How would one go about training them selves to go to their first comp.
I've never used a stack mat timer, average 45ish,
I'm color neutral for white and yellow on top and bottom.
I use roux for my main solving method.
I force myself to solve intuitively, and don't know all the algs for my method or a lot of other methods.
I can solve also using partial cfop/ frid, petrus, M2/OP waterman, 8355, and a few others.

Thanks guys for any info you give me.

supposed to be learning yourself for comps.

I'm not sure I understand your question - do you mean you can't bring yourself to sign up for a comp? or do you mean getting good (relative to your average) times at your first comp?
If the second, try to not care too much about your times, and just go to have fun. People in general don't go to comps to win or get good times - just to talk to people and have fun. If you find that your nerves are not to be controlled, don't worry - it happens to most people, and 1) don't be embarrassed about your times because no one cares that much and 2) as you go to more comps, you will get less and less nervous.
Side note - stackmat timers are really easy to use. If you aren't used to it, don't try to start and stop as fast as you can because you could accidentally violate a regulation and anyway, your times won't be affected very much.
I'm not sure if I answered your question(s), but hope this helped somewhat! Good luck.

You'll do fine. Do read this:

And then of course you'll also read the regulations.

If you can buy a stackmat timer, do so - you'll be happy to have one. But if not, then go to the competition early and try to get a few solves in on one before it starts; that way you'll be comfortable by the time you try it. You could also watch a few videos of other people at competitions to see for yourself what it's like. Then just go and have fun.

try not to care about your times. Also, you can simulate a stackmat timer. In order to start the timer you need to have both hands on the timer. So the cube is free. If you download the Prisma Puzzle Timker, you can set the start meganisme to start by holding the two CTRL buttons. That way you have to release the cube just like with a stackmat timer. You can also set inspection time in this PrismaPuzzle timer. That way you get used to the short but definate time you get on a competition. Good luck! Competitions are fun.
