Would it be against WCA regulations to compete in a 2x2 event using a 3x3 that only has stickers on the corners? I know you'd have to make sure there were no marks on the centers or edges. But even if there weren't, would they let you? Maybe it just depends on the judge?

Correct me if I'm wrong but having stickers on only the corners would break 'one uniform colour per face' rule because every face will be sticker colour + plastic colour of edges, right?

If you try to do this in a competition the delegate will most likely tell you that you can't and lend you a real 2x2 to avoid the problem.
I think it is just useless to allow it, although it doesn't give any advantage.

You can do M on 3x3 and not on 2x2.
But in a cube without stickers on edges and centers M doesn't affect the puzzle's state; can it still be called a "move"?
