B5c) If he is not touching the puzzle, the competitor may remove the blindfold before he stops the timer. He must not touch the puzzle until the end of the attempt. Penalty: disqualification of the attempt (DNF).

Still pretty amazing that he did it

It's great to see something like this, but I got two questions:

- Was the scramble legit?
- Shouldn't that be a DNF because of the way he stopped the timer? (He looked if the cube is solved and then finished a solve  )

Which doesn't really matter IMHO because he didn't do any moves after taking off the blindfold.

As B5c) If he is not touching the puzzle, the competitor may remove the blindfold before he stops the timer. He must not touch the puzzle until the end of the attempt. Penalty: disqualification of the attempt (DNF) states this should be a DNF. Why should this be different? Still it's up to the WCA board to decide

I do not see me ever in my life get a 16 seconds WCA solve.. ;)

Well it is possible, when I started I thought I could not get much faster. You set yourself boundaries, do not do that as this mental block will stop your progress
There are several ingredients to get fast
1) talent
2) dedication
3) training

I lack talent to get to a 9 sec average as my TPS is to high, still with dedication and training I must be able to get a 13 sec average some day
So start to practice more

and age is not an excuse ....

btw For a 16 seconds you only need a TPS of 3 (and a very good lookahead)....

SERIOUSLY !!!
do you really want to tell a 5 year old boy who had just blindsolved the Rubik's Cube that he got a DNF because he removed the blindfold while holding the cube ????!!!!
He'll literately HATE CUBING
He was so excited to see what he did , and he didn't even do any move , the judge made the right decision

He has a bright future , God bless him

I don't want to, but that would be the correct thing. It's a bit unfair that the regulations stretch because of someones age. Why don't we make age groups then?
