Hi!

Yesterday I was watching some of Jessica's cubing videos from her homepage. While she certainly gets very fast times, it occured to me that she was using a very "rough" turning style, which she herself points out.

I tried watching the videos at half-speed so I could see them more clearly. Indeed she is using very few fingertricks.

Has this ever occured to you? Does this mean that it is possible to get sub-20 with no fingertricks? And how does she do it?

This is the old style of fingertricks. It looks really bizarre if you've never seen it before. Yes, it is very possible to get sub-20 without fingertricks. It's even possible to get sub-15 without fingertricks. It's just harder.

I get better times when I turn slower than when I'm going as fast as I can. Lookahead is key, so yeah sub-20 is actually quite achievable without fingertricks, although I don't see why you wouldn't want to learn them, seeing as they're quite easy to learn.
