[Unofficial] Maxim Chechnev won the semi-final of the show Ukraine's Got Talent

I enjoyed watching very much! Back when I was fast I did a speedsolve on TV on two occasions, and both times I remember being so nervous that I felt like I was losing my ability to concentrate and stay focused on what I was doing. Congratulations on keeping your cool under such intense pressure and putting on an amazing performance, Again! :)

Congratulations on putting on a very entertaining show, showing a HUGE amount of skill, and on winning the semi-final! I can't wait to see you in the final! Totally awesome! :tu :tu

If we want speedcubing to permeate the general public, having them mininformed is a step backwards.

I agree completely. A general misunderstanding of cubing is already common among the majority of people. Giving a dishonest portrayal of cubing that takes advantage of the public's ignorance is certainly not helping.

Agreed.
While this resulted in a great show and of course required skill and work as well, it's misleading and goes against what I'm always trying to do when appearing in media - clearing up misunderstandings and giving out real information about cubing.

he doesn't say "I made and memorized cycles and now I'm gonna solve the cube with buffers and commutators like real bld solvers do". This is what any speedcuber means

Wrong. I don't care about the method. Only care about proper scrambling and being blindfolded. (And the former was violated.)

It's just for show, don't be too serious. We all know how he did it but what's really important is that he successfully showed it to all the audiences.
If he really DID 7*7 BLD which may took 2 or 3 hours; how many people would enjoy the show? He just use his skill showing the interesting aspect of cubing.

Yes, he is misleading to the public. But do you really think, that, inspired by this show, new cuber will quit cubing after he finds out that it's very hard to do 7x7 BLD and Max's show wasn't so real? I highly doubt.
Show brings new cubers, which is great, in my opinion.

So, if someone shows a magician trick - like making a bird disappear - differently like other magicians do, would that counted as cheating?

If someone gets interested in blindfold solving after seeing this show, I highly doubt he/she would just found "it's impossible unless you memorize the inverse of the scramble".

For magicians, the audience knows that it is an illusion. People believe what this kid is doing is real, when it is not.

It's not even about those people who get interested in cubing after seeing this and start to dig into it more. It's about those who just watch the show and stay misinformed about what we do.

Quite right. VERY VERY FEW new cuber would try 7*7BLD at the begining of their learning. Even most of us may also never try it:p
