Want to get into speed cubing need help.

Thanks all for answering all my questions! I will be back after my cube gets delivered :D

Help with cube and what to learn next?

Hi guys! So i just started cubing today as i just got my Zhanchi BUT the zhanchi feels 'clippy' in a way,It does not have lube and when i turn it, it feels like there are plastic pieces clipping on one another making it not as smooth to turn, will lube help with the 'clippy-ness' or should i do something like sanding down the places that are 'clipping' if i can find them.

And I what do i learn after the beginner's method as i have already remembered the algorithms for it and have already solve the cube 20+ times ( not sure if that is enough or if i should practice more before moving on ).

Thanks :)

Lubricate and tension it properly, it will make your ZhanChi good.

I don't know, but I moved to F2L when I got sub-1 with beginner's method. I'd say you should try looking to the concepts of F2L when you feel like it, or when you are confident enough to move on, you could also try exploring another methods, like, ZZ or Roux.

just my 2 cents

20 solves? More practicing never hurts! AND if you are stuck (you can't get sub 50 with beginners) go and learn Fridrich method. Making Zhanchis smooth is extremely easy. Just get some silicone spray (not WD-40!!!!) and spray it in the cube :)

you should learn full oll and pll.

you should lube your cube with vaseline.

you should mod your zhanchi. just use a dremmel and get rid of all the bumps on the corners so they are completely smooth.

you should learn human thistlethwaite method.

do all of this and you should be sub 15 in about a month.

I am assuming sarcasm to all this. If that is the case, basically follow the opposite of all this and that'll be good.

Tensioning and lubing are recommended. Modding is not necessary. Either keep using LBL or learn either CFOP, ZZ, Petrus, or Roux.
Just keep practicing and have fun!

Practice.. practice practice and you CAN get sub 50 with beginners, despite what someone else says ;) I am doing loads of solves to get better and it helps :)

You actually should learn full OLL and PLL, just not all at once...

Hi I think im gonna order my GuHong in a days time from Zcube.cn as its only $10 usd shipped but im unsure about lube, they only thing that looks like lube that zcube sells is the oil stone , does anyone knows what that is for?And what other things(not cube lube) do people use to lube their cube?I know that shock oil is pretty common around here.

thanks
I'd go with a guhong V2 it has way less chances of popping or exploding on you.

Thanks all! I'll try to get my beginner's method down to about 1min then learn another method.Only trouble im having now is that i cant remember the colour on my cube to i spend most of my time looking at where should a a of a certain colour go to.

Another thing, Im not sure if this is the result of not having any lube on my Zhanchi because no matter how lose or tight I set my tension it cannot cut 45 degree ( i know i dont have to cut that much ) I cant even cut around 30 degree without the cube getting lockup or having this feeling where its getting caught up on something,I cant find the problem the only thing i can think of is that the bottom of my corner piece isnt 'together' its kinda 'split' open.Isit meant to be this way?

Thanks :)

Hi, Im Dylan, and you sound just like me (and im sure everyone else on this forum) so I'll give you some advice :D

1. If the corner piece is sort of "split open", this is because the corner pieces are actually made up of 3 pieces which connect together. You can take them apart and put it back together easily. If it is sticking out, just take off the piece and push it together with your fingers, it should go back.

2. For tensioning your cube, use the cyoubx method. It WILL get your cube to cut 45. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlumT6dX6K0

3. Okay so, I know you said you had no lube, but you should probably get Lubix(very expensive but probably the best stuff you can get) or Traxxas(practically exactly the same as lubix but with twice the amount and cheaper.) Heavy Duty CRC Silicone Spray is good too. And for actually lubing your zhanchi, I would use crazybadcuber's tutorial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4paID_54lQ

Skip the part where he tells you how to put the pieces together. They are already done for you :P

Hope I helped. Welcome to speedcubing :D

EDIT: I noticed you said NOT cube lube. Traxxas, Pretty much any silicone spray (most people use Crc Heavy Duty Silicone Spray), Jigaloo, etc.

Thanks! I did put some bicycle chain grease on my cube and it got ALOT better, it feels smoother but has the effect on the cube as though it has too much lube as bicycle grease is really thick haha.
