I just got my eastsheen 2x2 today and I average 15 seconds. Is there a fast and easy to learn method?

How I solve it:

Insert all corners. The white layer is on the bottom.

OLL.

PLL.

I would recommend you Ortega too. It is simple method with low number of algorithms and you can get sub 5 avg. very soon!

Ortega = Very easy to learn, fast
Guimond = Very fast, not so hard to learn (takes some time)
LBL = Just ask Edouard how he gets those averages, lol.

Ortega = Very easy to learn, fast

takes 5-10 minutes to learn, if you already do OLL/PLL then you only need to learn 3 more algs for ortega, one of which is R2 F2 R2, so by the time youre done with this sentence you will only be 2 algs away from knowing ortega.

its what i use, and my best avg of 5 is 4.74, and my best avg of 12 is 5.27. Syuhei Omura and Jason Baum both get sub 4 with this.

Guimond = Very fast, not so hard to learn (takes some time)

Guimond is a very solid method, but takes quite a bit longer to learn and master. lots of people sub-4 with this.

LBL = Just ask Edouard how he gets those averages, lol.

Eduoard has amazing turning speed and godly look-ahead, thats how he gets those times.

other methods, that you should not even consider learning yet but should know about:
OFOTA(Opposite Firstlayer Orient Then Apples, i dont know what this one stands for actually): im no good at explaining this one. theres a link to erik's site in an above post, and it is explained there. Phil Thomas knows this, but rarely uses it. Mistarts is learning(i hope he hasnt given up). 87 algs + the PBLs from ortega and guimond

SS (Stern-Sun or Sun-Stern, its being debated): 3/4 of an ortega style FL, then orient entire cube, then permute entire cube. counting reflections, there are like 160 something cases i think. not sure. i should look it up. good luck finding it, Tim has gone and hid all the algs again. Speaking of Tim Sun, he used this for his Sub-3 UWR avg.

EG(Erik and Gunnar): ortega style FL, solve cube. 143 cases. Lucasz Cialon uses this. its fast, but it sucks to learn. the first two sets of cases are on erik's site, the algs for the 3rd case have been developed by a number of different people(including myself) and there are many different sets of them.

G-FASSST(who knows? i think its 3 S's but im not sure): i forgot what this is lol. Phil Thomas is learning it gradually. there are like 600 algs, including all of the EG cases. wait, is this like SS, but combining the Orientation/insertion step and PBL step? that seems like it would have 600 algs. rambling now. I'll stop.

anyway, 2x2 is lots of fun! enjoy it! start with ortega, work your way up from there. shop around for different algs, find the ones that work best for you.

I have school now...I think I'll start learning later. But I gave up for now. Btw, It stands for Opposite Face, Orient, Then All.

well thats too bad. i was pretty close. opposite first layer and opposite face are close. why couldnt i think of the word all, though?

Guimond - First And Second Steps Squished by Thomas
It basically is one face with 3+ opposite colors -> oriented and separated in one step and the PBL. It combines all of SS and OFOTA and I guess Ortega, but since I'm learning EG, that doesn't really matter.

oh i though you were learning EG because it was included in G-FASSST. o well. interesting idea for a method though.

there are already like 2 other threads on this exact same question lol.

and p.s. i don't know about you phil (well your not learning at the moment and i have been lazy at it) but i find g-fassst algs harder to memorize than anything else, even though they are only like 5-9 moves.

yeah, thats what i meant more than the actual algs. where only 1 color needs to be swapped its pretty easy but when you get the bars and diagonal it gets harder
