Hey there!

BLD?

Oh man no way for me.. I have trouble even memorizing the algorithms of the PLLs I want to learn lol forgetting one as I learn another. If I memorize BLD I am afraid I forget the entire cube itself *giggle*
¨

For me BLD is easier than memorizing algorithms. Just try it. You don't have to practice it if you don't like it, but it is cool to show off to your friends ;)

I used this guide and badmephisto videos to understand the method and noahaha videos to learn how to memo, really great stuff, I've also watched some of Zane's videos later, which are also very, very good.

i tried BLD like 18 times (attemped) Every solve was a fail. Some ones by EVERYTHING BAD, and other ones, only 2 edges bad. BUT I WILL TRY ANOTHER TIME, AND ANOTHER UNTIL I GET IT! :)

I recommend doing about 25 solves where you memorize and execute like a BLD solve but do it sighted. This will help you find your mistakes. I spend about 60% of my practice time doing this.

Hi. I hope you are enjoying the opportunity to attend the competition and meet a lot of people that are able to help on some of the issues you presented in this thread, since not too many competitions exist to the northwest of Murcia/Granada. I wish I could have gone but it's not an appropriate time of the year for me to make such a long drive.
Have a good one, and do tell how it went.

Just came home from the second (and last) day of the comp, I had a lot of fun.

I registered on four events and here´s the breakdown of what I did:

Pyra

I solve it layer by layer intuitively and Practiced it very little, as a result I did a couple of 32s and with a cutoff of 15s I did not try further and ended dead last :p

2x2x2

I did 13.46 13.71 14.18 10.84 13.66 ending up wiith an average of 13.61, the first 13 and the 10 should have been sub 10 even for me, I messed up a little and did extra moves, but 13.6 is not that far off of my averages so I'm happy.

3x3x3

The main event, I did 32.44 32.71 29.77 26.19 29.66 ending up with a 30.62 average the PLLs were Y, Y, A, T and Z, I'm not completely sure of the order of the last 3, I recorded and will upload the 32.44 but couldn't find people to record some more of my solves for me, overall some easy crosses (or me getting better at cross) and was definitely lucky with PLLs (No V, N or E) I 2Looked most of the OLLs (4 out of 5, IIRC).

I'm happy with my times, I do better at home, but not always, and overall I wasn't nervous

3BLD

DNF (3 edges), DNF (2 edges and all the corners, didn't bother to do the corners as I knew I messed up the edges) and DNF (another 3 edges). Memo was way slower than usual (and lower quality :p) execution was OK, I'm going to switch to M2 for edges and start practicing memo a lot.

I had a great time overall, met a bunch of nice people and now I just want to get better and go to a comp again.

Wow man.. You did great. 30.62 average.. And a 26.19 single! That is good stuff. 2 X 2 times rock as well.

Thanks, I was pretty happy because I was expecting anithing between 30 and 40, I liked not being nervous.

The 2x2... I can do better ;)

Very well done!!
Thanks! Looking to seeing you at Eindhoven open on live results, you can do better than me in 3 months ;)

Edit: I forgot to say that I'm starting to learn M2 and I really like it :)

LOL if you have these times now, you will have much better times than I at Eindhoven. I usually get very nervous, hence my desire to cut as much off my times as possible now heh.

I agree with Raoul, that you might get another 5 seconds off your averages in 3 months. I hope to pull that off too. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of solves per day but it is doable. I took about 5 seconds of my Ao12 PB since November. Another 5 seconds in 3 months would be very sweet ;)

Here we are!

This was my first solve and the only one I have recorded, I normally have a more relaxed face and am quite often smiling but you know, this is hard :D

My judge in this solve is the eventual comp champion and one of the best speedcubers in spain. What I say in the end is:

"He fallado" -> I missed it (the stack)
"Mi estreno" -> My debut

Very nice! I noticed your stickers are very worn out. How did you do that? I have no cube with worn out stickers. But then again, maybe I rotate more between (the many) cubes that I have.. Very nice first solve on a competition! I hope to beat your times soon ;)

I only have 2 stickered cubes and only one that I really trust, so there wasn't a lot to choose from :p, I might buy six colored zhanchis (plus a PanShi, probably) in the near future to end this shortage problem for good :)

I wish I had the 26 recorded, I'll try to ask somebody to record all my solves next time :)

oh, and I also hope to beat my times soon, although it doesn't seem right that between you, lcsbiffi and I it's me who has the better official times when I'm easily the slower of the 3.
