I need a new method. I am tired of cfop. I stink at blockbuilding so nothing with that. Also it should have a reasonable number of algs. Do you have any suggestions? Also do you know of a tutorial for it?

The only way to get really fast at ZZ ist doing blockbuilding,
CFOP is easy and you will get fast in a short time, and the most important thing, it's the best method for big cubes.
Roux is a bit more difficult, but it's a lot smoother to do it and more fun, because there are more intuitive steps.

Thats's what i think

ZZ does not require good blockbuilding to get very fast - however, I believe that at a certain point probably around 9 second average, you will need to use more blockbuilding to get faster at ZZ. Remember that this is theoretical.

Actually, high level zz eg. Phil Yu does have a decent amount of block building

Edit: it would be really cool if someone got fast with heise or triangular francisco

I am decent with Heise and I would really not suggest it for speedcubing. It is perfect for getting frustrated though. So If you want to look like this:mad:,this:confused: or this:fp on a regular basis and have to find all of your own solutions and tricks instead of getting a bunch of help from fellow cubers. Use Heise.

if you don't blockbuild for ZZ, you're not really taking advantage of the pros of the method.

as for a method with no blockbuilding that isn't cfop......dunno, but ZZ's probably one of the next closest methods to CFOP that's not actually...you know...CFOP

ZZ has left and right blocks, and while it isn't as unrestricted as roux or petrus, it's still blockbuilding. if you want to skip the blockbuilding part, you might as well do EO-Cross for the first step, or what I like to call EOCFOP.

blockbuilding starts out as "oh, i'll just leave this f2l slot open, pair up the corner and edge on the other side, and then put it in the slot!"

that immediately shaves off 2 moves.

then blockbuilding evolves into "wat no way, i can pair corners with D-layer edges, liek wtf?"

that will cut off another few moves from each solve.

then blockbuilding becomes "yo dude i can like save this pair on the top if I do eoline this special way"

and that cuts out the pause between eoline and f2l,

and then blockbuilding evolves into "wow i just determined the 18 move optimal solution to this scramble and I still have 13 seconds of inspection left."

and that's pretty much how zz-ers progress.

my thoughts... if you are talking about switching methods alltogether, I think the big 4 are the way to go. You are bored of CFOP, can't blockbuild well (why don't you practice that?) so there goes Roux and Petrus. Leaving ZZ. My main til November. it's great and would recommend to anyone, but imo Roux is the superior method.

If it's just a fun change you are after, or are daring enough to use an unconventional method as your main, I think triangular Francisco fits your no blockbuilding/not cfop philosophy. I can sub 20 this method, it is not a joke method, don't be fooled by the name

The things I have against L2Lk and Triangular Fransisco are the high alg count. I have looked at both. However both I like the ideas behind. @CubeRoots, I kind of was looking for an unconventional method.

try this for TF: Triangle, Keyhole any 3 edges in, solve last corner and edge like an F2L pair, orient edges simultaneously permutind the final 2 D layer edges. Then you have normal LL, with Cross on top. so you could COLL, OCLL PLL etc...

example: scramble B on front yellow ontop...

D2 R' U2 F2 R B L' B2 F U R2 D'

y' L2 U2 L' y' D2 R2 F L' F2 L' // Triangle (9 moves)
D R U R' E2 F R' F' R u2 R U2 R' // 3 edges (13, 22)
to avoid trapped edge in pair... D' U M' U M (D u) // (6, 28)
U2 R' U2 R2 U R2 U R // last pair (8, 36)
U M' U M U' M' U2 M D2 // EO and D layer (9, 45)
y R U' L' U R' U L U L' U L // COLL (11, 56)
U2 R U' R U R U R U' R' U' R2 // EPLL (12, 68)

okay that turned out bad, oh well, at least it shows the idea...

There's a reason the Big 4 are used by practically everyone as their main method - those are the easiest to get fast with BY FAR.
