Actually, it would be about 6 8x8x8s in terms of words, so in terms of actual difficulty, you're right. But I pack more 3x3x3s into a room these days, so it's actually 3 when measuring by rooms. I use 6 rooms for an 8x8x8 (+ corners, which would have to go in another room); I use 1 room for 4 3x3x3s.

It certainly seems like this is the UWR. I see qqwref has already updated his site here:

So this is 20 cubes more than anyone else has ever reported trying. Wow.

Edit: Excuse me - 23 more cubes than anyone else. He also has the second biggest attempt.
