Not getting any faster

Hey everyone, so I have been practicing a lot lately (4 days), and I am not getting faster at all. I sub 1 minute and it takes me 30 seconds to do F2L (Fridrich method). I know full 4LLL and I solve my cross on the bottom. I am trying to reduce the number of cube rotations I do in F2L. I use a Type F-II (Lubed)

Anyone have any tips for me? Am I not just not turning fast enough?

I'm on step 2 of this; http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/s...-to-Get-Faster-using-the-Fridrich-CFOP-Method

drill your 4LLL algorithms. get them all sub 3 or even sub 2 seconds.
that should cut >10 seconds off your solve very quickly.

I watched a couple of vids, and I have been told to not practice my look ahead until I can sub 30.

Start learning PLL. It honestly doesn't take that long: you can easily do it in three weeks, maybe two.
Learn lookahead for F2L, which takes awhile but helps tremendously. For some people, this is what gets them under 30. If you are reluctant to, then you might want to wait until you've completely finished PLL, and possibly even OLL (not recommended)
Also for F2L, check and make sure you have all the optimal algs, not just the intuitive ones. You can find a page on that in the wiki.

Lastly, look around the forum for tips and tricks. A small question like this doesn't merit a whole thread, more like a post on the OQAT. And before even doing that you should have used the search tool so as not to reask this question (which I'm sure has been asked before).

I'm not sure how long you've been sub 60 but that in itself could be part of it. Many ppl aren't happy when some one tells them that they just need practice but that really is the biggest thing! With 4 days of practice you can't expect to see drastic improvement! Last September is when I really got serious about being sub 30 and it took me almost six months of practicing ny aspects of my skills to consistently achieve sub 30 solves. Having said that here are the things that I tackled once I decided I wanted a sub 30 ave.

Before sub 30: (I had a 45 sec ave last Sept)
- I knew full pll and full oll (all I cared about at the time was sub60 and did not know F2L was most important)
- used a Walmart Rubik,s brand so not one fingertrick!
- did not use inspection time (had never considered attending competitions)

Those were the biggest changes that I made. Better cube, learned fingertricks, and learned to use the inspection time.
It took me almost a year to get from 45 second ave to my current ave of about 25-26 sec.

If you already use fingertricks and the inspection time then I suspect your f2l needs the most work. Look into using empty slots while inserting instead of always using FR. Solving pairs from different angles helps a lot! Start learning all the pll and all the oll's if you're really determined! If you have a hard time looking ahead then you'll save two steps where you have to pause and look. Many ppl will say that learning all the oll's isn't the right way to go but I say why not get it out of the way now! I'm glad I put in all the time learning them right away cause now I don't have to!

There's much more that you could do but that's all the time I have for now! Good luck!

Those are some great tip you guys. But to sum things up I should; practice my 4LLL algorithms to get them down to atleast sub 2 or sub 3 seconds. Go slow, look ahead, and possibly learn some algorithms for F2L.

How do i get better at recognizing the 2 Look PLLs? I don't like doing y2 to find 2 matching corner pieces to see whether I should do a edge cycle algorithm or H or Z perm.

omg y2.. do U2

Yea just doa U2 its fast if you want you can look into some 2 side PLL recognition if you dont have headlights somewhere on your PLL then youll have oppoisite colors on your corners then you know just do a Y perm to solve corners then to see if its an H Z or U perm for the second look its dependent on the colors of the edge peices relitive to the corners next to them. (ie you have blue and red corners visible to you a H perm would have green between blue on a standard color scheme and orange between the red, if it is a Z perm then youll have both edges having adjacent colors between the corners, if its a U youll have one adjacent and one opposite or obviously solved) learning full PLL/full OLL would help you but its not necessary my friend is breaking sub 30 now (hes at like 31 avg and got a 30.07 ao12 today) and he uses 4LLL. But if your going to be serious about speedcubing theres nothing wrong with learning full PLL/OLL right now. Learn full PLL first though as it would have the most significant effect on your solves IMO. anyway good luck and happy cubing.

PS learn to insert F2L pairs from multiple angles it minimizes rotations alot and learn to look ahead its great to start early cause it can only get better.
