[Unofficial] 8.69 avg12 with Roux, with 6.5 single (new fastest on vid :D)

wow..cool..man...by the way..your sticker look so nice...is it cubesminth fluorence colour?/

I'm reluctant to say it because I don't won't to seem like I'm putting too high an expectation/pressure on 5BLD. But I take it it's only him and Faz who have achieved this level of speed cubing in this sort of time scale?

5BLD destroys Faz though. Just about the same exact amount of time after solving his first cube as 5BLD, Faz posted an 11.42 avg5 and said he got an 11.98 avg100 a few days ago. 7 months after this, he posted an 8.80 avg12, which is still slower. Then posted the 8.45 avg12 after cubing for 13 months longer than 5BLD.

I didn't realise 5BLD was so new to cubing. Given his speed I assumed he had been at it for ages :o I actually feel like apologising for not appreciating just how amazing you are man, I actually am compelled to switch to Roux just because you're awesome. Massive congratz on life.

Not an entirely fair comparison though. Cubes still sucked during Faz's early stages.

U no respect A5
Yes, A5 was the first decent cube that came out. Faz has already been cubing longer at that time compared to 5BLD now though (not entirely sure and lazy to check, but I think so =P), or at least close to it.

IIRC, 5bld was using a crappy storebought for quite a while and cube quality hardly affects a person's progression speed.
That's not true. There are so many periods where a new awesome cube hits the market and WRs start dropping frequently (think GuHong, Dayan 4x4, SS 4x4, SS 5x5)

Of course you'll get better time with better cubes. But considering what factors affect how fast a person progress (determination, time spent, innate ability, practicing technique etc.. w/e.. ) the cube you use to practice hardly affects how fast you learn or become faster or not enough to warrant a comparison unfair for solely that reason.

I didn't say it was unfair, I say it isn't entirely fair =P

Thank you Brest, gah that ELL was so easy but I missed it XD

applemobile: sometimes I do but my main 4x4 methods are 'meyer' and K4. I'm only avging about a minute though. With reduxroux maybe a little slower?

5BLD destroys Faz though. Just about the same exact amount of time after solving his first cube as 5BLD, Faz posted an 11.42 avg5 and said he got an 11.98 avg100 a few days ago. 7 months after this, he posted an 8.80 avg12, which is still slower. Then posted the 8.45 avg12 after cubing for 13 months longer than 5BLD.

IMO it is pretty harsh because as others have stated that the cubes at that time were not that good, another factor which every seems to be missing is that Faz is good at almost every event (which requires a lot of practice) whereas 5bld is only good at 3x3.

OT: congratulations Alex you are truly amazing :)

Yup exactly what I wanted to say :D Feliks is like good at almost every event he does (except magic :p). But still nice job Alex ;)

EDIT: Just saw Brest's reconstruction on the 6.5 solve and wow, that was like SpeedFMC (:p) 32 moves excluding those cancellations like that r' r r'!
