Happy Pi day!

FYI today is 14.3.2012. You should do the date from left to right smallest to biggest. Days, months, years. Doing it any other way is just rediculous.

I disagree
yyyymmdd is the superior format
dd/mm/yy and mm/dd/yy are for scrubs

All I remember right now. Last year I knew about 180 and I plan to learn up to the 200th place before the end of this week.

Though my fav way of calculating pi is using Buffon's Needles - that blew my mind when I first heard it.
This reminds me, the awesome YouTube channel numberphile released a few videos about Pi.
Pi
Pi and Bouncing Balls - (this one is really cool)
Pi and Buffon's Matches
Sounds of Pi

One of the people that's in numberphile, has his own YouTube channel, singingbanana. See if you can recognise someone from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O8Z5lcBX_0

The bouncing ball one started out really cool, but after a long time it became clear it was just Pi hidden in a formula that he'd set up some specific criteria to eek it out.
Then I listed to the Sounds of Pi one and got really pissed off. The guy tried really really hard to suggest that it was anything other than audio paradolia, but failed miserably (even when he took a lot of liberties with the rhythm).
This reminded me of a lecture I had once where a guy was showing how amazing Phi was, and how it appeared everywhere in nature. He kept asserting wonder that phi could appear in equations that represent some natural grows... but it quickly became clear that he was picking the wrong number, he should have been 'amazed' that the number 5 could appear anywhere, because Phi is related to the route of 5, so anything that had 5 fold symmertry could be arranged in such a way as to give an equation with Phi in it (and you really should have seen these equations, they were an absolute mess, so clearly someone tried really hard to get squeeze a phi in there). But of course there is nothing 'mystical' about the number 5, so far better to go on about Phi.
There are seemingly pseudosciences based around how 'amazing' some numbers can be, which amount to nothing more than cherry picking values and seeing patterns that aren't there.
(Darn it, I was really keen on Pi day until the last 30mins where I seem to have argued myself into disliking it)

People are still talking about their backwards dates? Please. The best way of writing dates is from biggest to smallest, just like place-value notation (so, 2012/03/14). And I'm fine with putting the date at the end since people usually don't want to look at it anyway ;)

I still know somewhere around 100 digits, but I didn't actually celebrate pi day...

I've memorized this much:

3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105820974944592307816406286208998628034825342117067982148086513282306647093844609550582231725359408128481117450284102701938521105559644622948954

none of the date formats are correct.
CLEARLY mydmydyy is the most superior!
for example March 15th in the year of 2012 is
02130512

Just kidding, Koreans usually use yyyymmdd but i personally use mm/dd/yyyy
