[Unofficial] Roux method 9.71 avg5

The first solve was tasty :)

Have you thought about researching a bunch of f2l tricks for the FR/BR pairs? I think you'll have no problem learning/understanding them quite quickly, and I think they'd improve your 2nd block efficiency (I notice you have a tendency to solve the DR edge first).

It isn't sacrilege, honestly ;)

Haha, yeah I'll research advanced F2L- that's a good idea. I had a look at multislotting too a while ago but found it too hard to do at speed and with no restriction of cross.

The only thing with F2L tricks is that there is sometimes a more efficient RrMU way of doing the pair and also I'm a little scared to use F moves as RrMU is mostly more efficient than F moves in my experience.

I've also looked at last slot techniques, but for Roux an orientation skip isn't exactly much fun. Corner or Edge that is.

As I just said, force orient corners isn't always nice when you use many more moves...

Rowan: could you link me to some good last two slot F2L strategies? All I find is rotations rotations rotations...

@5bld: try Macky's site, Jeff2l might be useful for some of the worst blockbuilding cases. Opticubes is great too, it seems like not that many people know about it. This might also be useful, I think they try to avoid rotations where possible.

Obviously it will take a bit of digging and researching to find out your worst cases and improve them, but I think a tricked-out 2nd block would make you considerably faster - your first block and CMLL/EO are pretty crazy right now imo.

I do this. Im still trying to figure out a more efficient SB.

To teh BLD. Cube?

Argh for jeff2l macky's pictures don't work, and absolute f2l is down....
Opticubes works though. Thanks for the links :)

Again however, the RrU ones on Opticubes preserve cross and are therefore much much longer than i require...

I'll go on jarcs to work out some cases perhaps...

edit: yay absolute f2l is working now

To be honest, as long as you try to find and track the DR edge while finishing the first block, and then try to build a 2x1 as you're inserting it, its totally fine imo. It only really becomes bad for Roux if placing it isn't integrated into your second block strategy and is just a 'starting point'.

I might do some Roux example blocks on youtube for the lulz :P

I do first block normally.(Square then pair)
But SB, I place DR then 2 pairs.
Since Im horrible at making squares, doing it twice would just be a tragedy.

Yup, that's what I do. I make the pair while inserting the edge...
