Hi. I am siyogi, and I am new to speedcubing. (Yeah. I just started about a few weeks ago. :p) I am still in the process of memorizing 2-look OLL algs in the Fridrich method, though I have already memorized most of the PLLs. (Yep. I find OLL algs harder to memorize.) I am always tempted to try the square-1, but the notation makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. =))

Hi! :D
I average around 40 seconds on the 3x3. My finger tricks suck. =))

@jokerman: My friend says so too (although he isn't into speedsolving), which is why I would love to try it. But it's the notation that really makes me feel different. Maybe it's just because I've been used to the notation for the regular cube.

The notation is a little different yes but, once you get the puzzle and read how the notation works you'll understand it very easily. Also if you get one and need help with it let me know.

Hi,

How often do you practice? 40s in a few weeks makes me feel stupid for taking a whole year to get where I am now. Barely sub 30 btw. More like 32 but I don't time myself consistently.

Regards,

H.

Hi, H! :D
I don't really know how long I practice in a day. Whenever I have a free time, I cube. =))

Oh, and I don't time myself consistently too. Haha. :P

Just did an average of 12 and only got 32.something :*(... That means it has taken me a month to improve by 2 seconds. Sub 25 is still so far away. I do about 15-20 solves a day, 5 days a week...oh and my solving seems so much more choppy and hectic when I'm timing myself. Can't relax and I even forget algs. Guess I should time myself more often to get used to the added pressure....good for you for improving so fast though, I envy you ;).

I cube absolutely anytime and anywhere, as long as my hands have nothing to do. =)) at school, at home, while traveling, wherever. Haha.

With dedication, everything becomes closer. Sub-25 isn't far from you since you're improving constantly. (I think). :D

Maybe you should try cubing in public. The staring eyes add a lot of pressure, too. I tried it once, and sadly, my hands trembled all the way. But hey, at least I solved the cube (but it took me really long. LOL). :P

Btw, I did an average of 5 and got around 46.xx... Guess we really need more practice. Haha.

46 is still amazing ;)

I mainly only cube at work and in public transport. So I get a lot of people watching me. But I guess I just ignore them nowadays because I'm used to it. When I use a timer, it's me putting the pressure on myself, which is different I guess. I feel like I'm competing with myself and not with the icey stares of onlookers who are probably just irritated by the noise that my cube makes anyway ;)

But yeah some people do hundreds of solves a day and time everything. I've never done that.

Thanks.

We're pretty much opposites then. I solve better in front of the timer. I can cube faster when I am alone than with someone looking at me. :P

Wow. A hundred solves a day and all timed. Gotta try that someday. Haha.
