Does anyone know of a good way to learn your color scheme? I feel like this is where im loosing some time, especially on the cross. I usually have to line up the edges already in place while making the cross. I can't quickly build it and then u or u' to line up the centers. any tips would be great

i just remember "GO"

green then orange (GO), left to right if white on bottom
then I think you know their opposites

but I don't remember color scheme because of the cross (and I don't think you should too)
but because of the 4x4x4

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Do you have a color scheme that is different from the standard one? because then it just takes practice and getting used to it. However, if you mean being like color neutral then I wouldn't work on that yet if I were you. It appears you have only just joined in October, and I may be wrong, but most advanced cubers don't even bother being color neutral. Choose a side and stick with it

You are wrong, at least partially, and just because someone joins recently doesn't mean they aren't "advanced" (though, I assume he isn't because if someone's advanced, they probably won't be asking this question).

To the topic: Try doing it blindfolded, and try to familiarise yourself with *at least* which colours are opposite each other.

thats true, it does also apply to the 4x4. i easily know which sides are opposite eachother, but not which sides are adjacent. it also makes it a bit more difficult depending on the orientation of the cube. if white is on top, its OGRB, but if its yellow, its OBRG

also, i did join in october, but the october of 2010. and i wouldnt call myself advanced either, but intermediate.

Personally I used to play Guitar Hero a lot, and when you go around the cube the colors are the same as the buttons on the guitar controller excluding yellow (green, red, blue, orange). That's how I remember them. Haha.

Counterclockwise, but still. It worked.

I realize that. That is why I SPECIFICALLY stated

They just learned not to be colour neutral. It doesn't mean that they don't want to be colour neutral.

Also the cross is just hard, it just takes a crapload of practice to see it better. Try looking at reconstructions of other solves to see how people form their crosses.

Well, a-duh. And, no, you didn't make it clear you realised that you're wrong, because you wouldn't have went about declaring that statement. The fact that you added "I may be wrong" only indicates that you're not entirely sure, not that the rest of the sentence is false.
The part of my sentence that states "You are wrong" corresponds with what you have bluntly boldfaced. I was stating that the probability of you being wrong is on the higher end as opposed to you being right; I was not trying to be a smart***, or flame you. I was simply stating that you are wrong (at least partially). No verbal diarrhea was intentionally flung in that statement.

But I digress.
Practising 4x4x4 should also help, by the way (as stated above). I found it did for me, anyway.

Edit:

Heh. Totally missed that.

Yeah for cross just remember
Green-orange
Orange-blue
Blue-red
Red-green

And practicing cross BLD helps.

Eww. You should try to be colour neutral as early on as possible if you intend to be. Or try to be. Just because 'advanced' cubers arent colour neutral doesnt mean you shouldnt bother. Its a wonderful skill.

Edit: oh and i joined recently and some call me advanced. Phlippieskezer already said what i wanted to say.

Cheers, that's a great tip! I've been having trouble learning the adjacent colours.
