I've got a mile comming up in Australia (1500m Classic) on thursday
Aiming for 4:15 .... (Grade 10) Gonna get slaughtered by a man child who runs 4:08 and is two years younger. I'll do a rubik's mile when I'm on holidays in a few weeks.

Awesome, I've always wanted to try this, but I don't live near a track. :(
Fast time, it makes me feel slow because I'm not sub 5 yet :(.

Hold old is grade 10?

I was 15 in october;
Why is this fast or slow in the US?

I came 9th in Qld last year for xc but the winner in my age did 12:40 for 4k :O. I did 13:56 :fp

do a rubiks 6miler (10k)! A cube after each km! If you could sub 38 that that would be pretty impressive!
That was a strong last lap from Asher! I haven't ran in a while but 65 secs for 400m is always strong :P

Why would you run 1500m when you could go 109m more and have a nice even mile? #doesntdotrack

Because 1500m is a metric mile and 1609m is an imperial mile.

BTW I did 4:21 at my meet :fp Was on track for a sub 4:20 (no pun intended), racing round the last lap for a 68 when some random stepped out and hit me as I was comming round. Screwed my rhythm, ended up with a 70 last lap :(

Nice, I once did it in about 7min. I never heard of anything faster than what you just did. Lets call it the new UWR :tu

Edit: Next time do that extra 9m (for 1609m). Still, if you follow beemile rules you can walk that 9m while cubing the first one, so it should barely have any impact on the final time.

I asked why the Olympic standard is 1500 and not 1600, because each lap is exactly 400m and it makes more sense to run 4 laps than 3 3/4 laps. This is because the world uses metric system, and 1.5 kilometers makes more sense than 1.6 kilometers.

the world uses metric system
lol

and 1.5 kilometers makes more sense than 1.6 kilometers.
Actually, 1.6 km makes a lot of sense in terms of the short-race progression 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, etc. The only real advantage 1.5 km has is that it's a more "round" number, but if we're going for that, why not just skip straight from 1 km to 2 km?
