Master pyramorphix: how to solve it?

I got a master pyramorphix today, and I cannot figure it out. I've been searching for four hours now and even watched some Youtube videos but I cannot figure it out. It kind of looks like it has been eaten and vomited back out.

The only thing that I got right is the very first step: correctly orienting the centers, but I can't seem to make the cross. :fp

Anyone here who knows a great tutorial?

But it's so much fun! It is just a 3x3. Try turning slices to figure out how it's just like a 3x3, then deduce which pieces are which. Then solve :D

I tried that. It's like I know what to do, but can't figure out HOW to do it. I know where different pieces should go, but some pieces are shaped in such a way that it prevents me from sending the piece to where I want it to go. :(

That's the fun of it! Try making the cross first, that will help you see things much easier. Pick any centre, then play around with the one coloured edges to try and get them to match up the right way around :D

The two-colored pieces are the centers.
The larger one-colored pieces are the edges.
The four-colored pieces AND the smaller one-colored pieces are the corners.

First, turn the two-colored pieces (the centers) so that they match up with respect to each other.
Then, from one of the centers, intuitively make a cross. Keep in mind that you should keep the four middle-layer centers matched up.
Then, insert the corners pretty much the same way you would in the beginner method of the 3x3.
Next, insert the middle-layer edges (the large one-colored pieces) as if you're doing F2L on the 3x3.

The last layer is more different. What I do first is solve the last layer edges completely. See which edges correctly connect to the top center, and fix the rest. This is done by performing these very familiar 3x3 algs:
F R U R' U' F' , If the correct edges form a straight line
F U R U' R' F' , If the correct edges form sort of an "L"
R U R' U R U2 R' , If there is only one correct edge (the correct edge be in the UF position)
Keep doing this until the top-layer edges are solved. It usually takes more than one alg.

The corners are done using commutators, similar to the Dan Brown method. First, permute them, using R' D R , followed by R' D' R. Keep doing this until all the corners are permuted.
Orientation is done using the commutator R' D' R D . Just like the Dan Brown method. BUT I should mention that sometimes your corners will be finished, but the rest of the puzzle is still messed up. Simply perform the commutator on one of the one-colored corners, since they only have one possible orientation, until the puzzle is solved.

I hope that helps, I also found the videos to be a little hard to understand, and it took me a bit to figure out how exactly it's done. It's a fun puzzle once you get the hang of it.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have been searching for another day and I can now make the cross but I can't get further. I have disassembled it and assembled it correctly, and the puzzle is now used as decoration (I won't scramble it anymore).

No more shapeshifting puzzles for me. They are madness.

I got my master pyramorphix when I was a noob with a 3x3. It took a while but I managed to figure it out. Just pretend the triangle pieces are the corners, the trapezoid things are edges, and the ones with two colors are the centers (which is just what it is). I got stuck at the last layer. I found it easier to use the beginner's method. Try to do (R U R' U')3 and see how it's like a 3x3 when you do the same thing.

But mine is also mostly decoration too. I only solve it once every couple weeks.
