Your thoughts on the new Private forum?

"private forum" ... I think its unfair that only certain people can post.

I hate to sound annoying, but the clue is in the title. The new part of the forum is private, which is why they labelled it as private. By definition, it has to be restricted to a certain list of people.

I think it's a good idea to let the better members of the forum discuss things somewhere free of people who have nothing much to contribute but will try to do so anyway.

Lol. Oh, I see your post count is back up to normal again. (Yes I just noticed now.) I never knew why your post count was only in triple digits a week (or more) ago.

EDIT: Or was it double digits? T_T

I personally like it. It gives the more quality posters to discuss topics without any noise. Stachu and the rest of the mods have already chosen a quality list of users who can add great information to the topics. They know from experience who can add a quality discussion. It's viewable to the public, which means we can still learn from those posts.
If you'd like to be the lucky few who can post in there, amp up your posts standards. Hopefully this sparks a wave of people upping the quality of the forum as a whole.
And no I am not one of those members that can post there.

"INEQUALITY" - yup, there is
I don't like the idea. Only great/good members are in that subforum.
so what am I if I'm not in there? am I bad? or am I just unpopular?
you are building up a separation line between members here.
(the private subforum members and the non-private sub forum members)

Strict implementation of the site rule is the best solution against noisy members.

although I have no interest with that private sub forum, I hope moderators think what other members would feel.
Clearly, other members have bad impression about that private subforum
peace to everyone. :)

mods: can i get in?

when i first joined the forums it took a while to get used to all the useless posts and unproductivity. the private forum looks like its more productive than most of the posts on the regular forums.

No one said that non-private sub forum members are bad, it just means that the mods don't know you well enough to determine whether you'll contribute or not.

I'm sure they're not there intentionally to make other members or make them feel bad, it's supposed to be an area where we can all read "the good stuff", although hurting other members can be a side-effect for those who take it personally, which no one should.

Like lots of people already mentioned, if you feel like you deserve to post there, then show it through good posting then request it.

Why not just give everybody a chance to be in the private forum and then kick them out for posting stupidly?
Because then every new member who doesn't meet the standard would have to be manually kicked out. The amount of moderation here would be immense. Plus, you'd have the inevitable arguments of people who don't think they deserve to be kicked out. At least this way there's an incentive for people to better themselves in order to look deserving.

You're normal - deal with it. I assume you're also not a world memory champion, or a professional football player, or a multibillionaire; that doesn't mean there's anything *wrong* with you, just that you haven't achieved something.

so I don't need to be good? I need to be great to the point that mods will know me well to determine whether I contribute or not?
so it is because I am unpopular?

there is still a separation between members, which I really don't like.
peace. :)
