Willing to pay 15 dollars max including shipping. Mine is incredibly loose and it's driving me nuts because the cube turns amazing, but, alas, explodes. It doesn't have to be incredibly tight as long as it's just not absurdly loose. Any improvement will do. Thanks in advance.

Edit: I broke the core trying to do a half assed fixed to tighten it. Please anyone with a core lying around. I'll raise the offer to 20 dollars. Any decent core will do.

if i were you, i would make the core ajustable, tension it, then pin mod it, that way the tensions are still good and it is fine.

If you're ready to give up on the cube, try adding a bunch of differential lube (50K WT) to it - I mean lots, like several drops per face. I just did that to mine today, and it went from pretty awful (because it was too loose) to quite nice almost instantly. My times dropped 30 seconds - from 5:10 average 3/5 right before it (which was pretty typical for me) to sub-4:40 average 3/5 right after it. Maybe the scrambles were easy and it was partly coincidence, but for sure it feels much nicer.

Are you using OFNA or Traxxas?

How does excessive lube aid with tension? I've got shock oil in it now and it turns amazing, it is just way too loose and unstable. I have to turn it super accurately and when it pops it explodddeessss.

I don't know - I wasn't really being very careful when I tried it - I figured I could just wipe it out of there if it didn't work. But I figured since differential lube is so thick, it might fill the spaces in the cube that made it so loose, which is why I tried loading it up. My 6x6x6 wasn't intolerably loose (as in pieces falling out regularly), but it was loose enough that if you picked it up and shook it, the pieces would rattle pretty much. I never tried shock oil in it.

Oh, and my times have stayed better. I've had a couple of small pops, but it seems like it pops substantially less than it did before.

I've never tried Lubix, but I do have Izo lube which I've been told is slightly runnier. I squirted in a crapload of this stuff and it does feel a little better. I did get a major pop (6 pieces and some middle layer pieces) while I was breaking it in. We'll see. It's a shame, because I love solving 6x6.

Edit: It's still not really speed solvable. It scares the crap out of me to turn this thing and the chance of having to spend an hour assembling it is there in every turn.

I just had an idea though. I'm going to try to heat up the screws and push them further into the core. =P

Update on that: I no longer have a functioning 6x6
