Hi Guys,
I was thinking of buying some new cubes. I don't want to get many. I am currently learning to improve on the 3x3 and the 3x3 only. (Since I only have a 3x3 ) Averaging 30-37 at the moment using my Fi. (Lubed, tensioned and broken in) I think I am improving very quickly. Anyway, I wanted to get a few new cubes, maybe a couple 2x2s, 3x3s and maybe a 4x4. I am wanting to buy these so I don't get bored quickly of solving 3x3 MANY times every day.

I think I will be buying a ZhanChi, Guhong, 2 Lan Lan 2x2s and a Sheng Shou. What store should I buy from? I am currently thinking E3Cubestore, since the shipping is quite cheap and so are the prices of cubes. (Shipping to Australia)

What are your thoughts on this? Should I buy from this store or from another store?
(Please don't suggest Tim Major's store, I do like his store but there isn't much option ;o)

Thanks guys

Edit: Maybe I will buy 1 or 2 different puzzles as well, maybe a square-1 or a pyraminx. Something different to play with every now and then. ;]

The few chinese/HK stores listed in the forum have free shipping...
Order will probably reach you in 2-3 weeks.

Since you are in Australia, you aren't that far from Hong Kong. If you want free shipping, I would suggest either HK now store, or lightake. There are cheaper prices on lightake, but it can be confusing to find what you're looking for because of the naming system they use. The sheng shou 4x4 is the best price on lightake at only $7.99, although, for 2x2 I would recommend the Sheng Shou / Ghost hand over the Lan Lan. Not only because the Lan Lan comes with purple instead of orange (if that bothers you) but also because I have heard from some people that they've had problems with Lan Lans. Some people say it gets really slow pretty quickly, and a few times I've heard of people having internal problems, something breaking, screw problems, etc. As for the Dayans, in my opinion, the Gu Hong and Zhan Chi are practically the exact same feeling wise, but the Zhan Chi is slower than the Gu Hong, and for me, seems harder to tension properly. I haven't been able to find a good tension yet.

There is an Australian Cube Store based in Melboure. Kubaroo. I can highly recommend it from personal experience. It will reach you fast as it will be domestic shipping. However, they do not have the Shengshou 4x4. They have other 4x4s though.

EDIT:

Right...Sorry about that. I don't know how I missed it. That kinda makes this post a bit useless...

I completely agree with this. I get it to tension where I think it feels great and will at last dislodge my Lingyun from main status and then I get pops, even with the torpedos, tighten it past pop tension and it feels too tight. Tried multitudes of different tensions with my Zhan Chi over the last week.

Or is it because it is like the lunhui that needs breaking-it in before it is really great?
(in fact my lingyun needs about a week of breaking it in too)

I was thinking of getting a Guhong Coloured cube for practicing and for fun! (They look really good nice) and the ZhanChi for my main. But I am not very sure now :S What should I get and etc?

Edit: Also, Lightake and HKNowstore are really expensive :S

For the Guhong, Zhanchi, and Lanlan 2x2, you can find them here. It gives you the price at the most popular cube stores, and at the top, it has various shipping information for these stores.

I'm not sure why everyone is crazy over the ZhanChi. IMO, it's just way overhyped like the LunHui.

I'm not sure if you're good with suggestions, but a great idea for a 3x3 would be to either get a GuHong and mod it with a 48 point edge mod (and a V Cube 5 mod if you want), or you can just buy the Lubix Ultimate GuHong from lubixcube.com

As for the Shengshou 4x4, be warned that this cube may explode a lot. I'm not sure about the new version III, but my Shengshou explodes sometimes. I've heard that other great 4x4's are the DaYan+Mf8 (for people with big hands), or is you wanted a smaller sized 4x4, the X Cube is supposedly fantastic after breaking in (although expensive).

For a 2x2, I have a V Cube 2 and I will say that it is a great cube. It feels really good and doesn't really lock up on me. Again, the cube is a bit expensive for a 2x2, but it's a great cube.

I'm not really an expert on Square-1's or Pyraminx's, but I've heard that a good pyraminx is the QJ pyraminx. Also, if you're looking to get some other cool cubes, I would highly recommend a 5x5. 5x5s are much different than 4x4s even though you would think they're the same thing.

Not sure if my advice is the best, but I'm just making some recommendations.
