Here's a 1:04.86, which is my PB and my official response to Fritz Loehr's video ;)

And here's a 1:06.80, which was filmed earlier, and was my PB at the time too.

Sorry about the video quality, my room isn't as bright as it could be.

Pick 4 faces that only touch each other at the corners, and do a bunch of turns of just those faces. (In my scrambler's notation you could choose U, R, L, B.) You'll see that this ends up roughly like a Pyraminx, with four "corners" composed of three centers and three edges, and six "edges" composed of one corner and two centers. The idea is to reduce to this sub-puzzle. First you make all four "corners" semi-intuitively, and then you pair up the corners with the remaining free centers, using 8-move commutators.

uhm and qqwref what do u mean by "and then you pair up the corners with the remaining free centers, using 8-move commutators." i mean.. well i get it done but too complicated i guess. so which moves do u use?

They didn't have that when I got mine.

You could solve it my way. It's slow but oh well.

Step 1: Solve the edges. This is intuitive and easy.

Step 2: Solve the corners. Intuitive untill the last 2.
Alg: R U' R' U R' F R F'
* R U R' U' helps.

Step 3: Solve centers. Moves right left side center to right top side center.
Alg: (MR U MR' U') do that five or six times, don't quite remember because I don't have my FTO with me.

That's how I solve the face turning octahedron.

That's how I solve it.

well ewq is using almost the exact same method emolover described and got awsome times with it..
for example

but i hate solving the centers and in qqwref's method u solve 4 of the centers intuitively which i love ;) so i guess i stick with his method..
but at the moment my breakdown is kinda like
first 4 centers: 30-45 seconds
centers: 2-4 mins
complete the "pyraminx": around 15 seconds

so id be glad about any help i can get for that ;)

Usually the commutators are something like D RU'R' D' RUR'. In this alg R and U should touch only at the corners, and D is opposite U.
