Hahaha. I lol'd hard at this post. Thank you. Most sub 10 cubers could sub 10 my storebought.
And we can't fathom their thinking process? I'm 13-14 and I can understand what Faz does in his solves, in team bld, and in team solves. He just does it faster :p
Speak for yourself.
At a sponsor run competition where we only got to use storeboughts, a person turned up with a dollar cube. They were told they couldn't use it, and C&A gave them an out of the box storebought. They broke their pb by a long way. Same happened when my dad switched from a bad storebought to a GuHong. The cube does matter.
Edit: This was a week before Faz's 9.21 average, which was very good for him at the time. He got an 8.6 full step with a storebought.

Missed the point of my post. Yes the cube makes a difference but when you're sub-10 the difference is minimal. You actually reiterated that in your post I'm surprised you missed it in mine.

^That was back when he averaged 10~
All I was saying is the cube matters. The other point was storeboughts can be very good cubes. I wasn't saying "The cube you use matters, but you can get decent times with a storebought." I was saying "the cube you use matters."
Rubik's storeboughts are only good after a lot of modding. After modding or breaking in, they too can be decent cubes. Understand now? My point was the condition of the cube you use, does matter. With an out of the box storebought it really slows down your average, as with any cube. An Elite will get you better times than an out of the box GuHong (not lubed, and not broken in).

:fp

My point was that you're going to put hours of work into a cube doing multiple mods and all the jazz when I got the same affect with 45 minutes of work with an X-Acto knife. I doubt your hand made Elite is the same as Donovan's if my hand made Ultimate performs just as well.
