[Official] A solve of a 50-year-young cuber

Nice, Ton!

I have 11 months to go before I'm there. I'll see if I can at least get sub-20 by then, but I know I won't be anywhere near as fast as you.

You can do this also , my turning speed is only 3 to 4 turns a second, you must be able to turn at this speed. So practise a bit and optimize your steps. I am sure you will be able to get sub 20 soon. Your are almost there , I speeded up a lot after practise the 4x4 a lot, maybe this will help you also. Success!

Congrats Ton :)

I'm still dreaming when I can beat my husband :)

@ Mike: You beat Ton with your Amazing Bld ;)

Thanks, Ton - you're a real inspiration!

i find it interesting that he contributes his success in 3x3 speedsolve to 4x4. i was stuck at around 20 for a long time as well, but after a long time of practicing big cubes 4,5 for almost 5 months with barely touching a 3x3, i dropped sub 20 after that easily for some reason. it just seems so easy to turn the cube and the lookahead skill is developed a lot when doing bigcubes. very interesting.

Fantastic!

At 41 years old myself and just hit sub 30 after 3 months it gives me great inspiration to see this :tu

Can I ask when you started cubing Ton?

I absolutely agree with this.

Couldnt agree more, i found that logic out after getting around 50 sec solves. I thought solving a "harder" cube would help lower my times. After being able to get sub 2:30 on a 4x4 it helped me reach about 40 seconds on a 3x3 solve after a few weeks
