so I've been cubing for about two weeks now and I was looking for a new cube because the current one I have is a store bought one. while looking at cubes I've seen Type A, Type C cubes but I see everyone talking about type D like what exactly is a type D/Type B/Type E/Type F?

cool, I just wish that they had a list to explain that like type d = Dayan and the other types
it would be cool if someone can make that list
but yeah I heard that an old type A core with a type D cube is really good.

what's the different between Dayan Guhong and Dayan lingyun, cause I'm thinking about getting a cube right now. and what about the cube4you brand cubes.

Cube4You DIY is absolutely horrible. Don't get it.

The GuHong is almost the same thins as the LingYun. The LingYun is basically the "improvement" of the GuHong. It is a little faster, however, it pops more. I would suggest a GuHong, but if you get one, make sure to get Lubix or at least Maru lube with it. With lube, it is the perfect cube. However, without lube, the cube is horrible.

GuHong is smoother, LingYun is a little bit more bumpier.

Really? I felt one and it was pretty good. Tensioned and lubed on your side?

well, now I'm super confused, so what is a type D cube.

Just ignore the whole type-x naming system and go for the actual company names. The most known cubes right now are Ghosthand II, Dayan's (Guhong, lingyun, etc), Alpha 5, maybe C4Y 3x3, F-II. Out of those cubes they say Ghosthand is the quietest, F-II is the smoothest, Guhong is the fastest, Alpha 5 is also fast but in comparison to the guhong it's a lot more clicky, lingyun is like guhong but pops more from what I've heard. I've had a C4Y, was kinda meh, had a heavy feeling and it didn't really cut corners. I didn't get to test it out for more than a few solves before it fell on the floor and completely shattered the core, and I had to throw it away.

And you don't need to get a type A core for your guhong, these types of modifications are for people that have like sub 20 averages and every millisecond counts towards getting a new world record and stuff like that. Right now as long as you have a decent cube, you should just worry about improving your times by practicing and learning algorithms.

I'd say get a Ghost Hand - II (Ghost Hand - I if you want a dinky lil' pouch)

Then, Move over to either an F - II, Alpha V or GuHong.

The GH-I is better IMO as the cutting ability of the GH-II doesn't keep up with it's speed / ease of turning making it prone to lockups. The GH - I is much more balanced (for me)

The GuHong is my favorite cube. Extreme cutting, great feel and no appreciable pops. The F - II pops like nuts when I use it and IMO feels weird (for me). Also, when I BLD, the F - II is prone to slips and unintentional turns. I haven't tried the Alpha V. If you're getting the F -II, I suggest you bu stickers as well. The stock ones die in a week or so.

I'd just get an A-V or a Guhong right off the bat if you're gonna get one eventually anyway. People have like 10 3x3's in their collection but honestly you're only ever using one as your main cube, so what's the point.

The only argument is that Guhong is too fast for a beginner but you'll get used to it. :/

Seconded. There is no point in buying 'temporary' cubes, just go for a good one.

Yes, I would agree. I ordered a number of 3x3's when I started cubing and made the mistake of firstly not taking advise here and secondly ordering all before prior one's came. Once I had the Dayan cubes the others were always going to be obsolete. With heinsight there is no point spending £10 on a cube that I am knowingly going to replace with another £10 cube. Might as well just spend my hard earned cash once. Both the Guhong and Lingyun are great cubes. The majority prefer the Guhong so it is probably a better bet. I happen to be in the minority and prefer the Lingyun but my Lingyun's are hybrids which remove most of the popping issues.

Welcome to the forums and your new addiction

thanks, I love the addiction of wanting to fix the cube faster, right now I'm currently learning the 2-look OLL and 2-look PLL, but I was thinking about getting 1 Ghosthand II and 2 Dayan Guhong with lubix at I think cubedepot but my question is if the dayan diy kit comes with stickers....
