I just got a stickerless GuHong and I'm very pleased with it. It's my best cube by far, but now I just found out stickerless cubes are illegal in comps. T_T
Is there any way I could manage to use it somehow without buying a new cube? I know there probably isn't, but I'm a little ticked off because of these stupid rules.

Thanks. :)

the stickerless guhong is illegal since you can see what color pieces have from angles you cant see from a normal stickered cube, do a 45 degree turn on a random face, and look at the edges, thats why you cant use it in competition, one way may be painting the insides black, without any difference between pieces, dont know if it will work, ut it will probably decrease the performance of the cube drastically

I am happy to stand corrected but stickering it would still enable you to see the B face colour whilst looking at the F. You can not only see the colour on the very top of the U but can see clearly when slightly misaligning R or L since the colour split goes all the way through teh pieces to the core. I believe that fact alone would mean it would still be competition illegal.

I bought one and thought it looked great even if illegal, but I cannot get on with the feel of stickerless, far too little friction on the fingertips for my inaccurate digits!

The reason is that when you're through half a turn, you can see the split color of the corner pieces. You can see them, because as many people know, the GuHong pieces are cast in three separate pieces. Since the color is inlaid with the plastic, you have three different colored pieces of plastic coming together making a line where they touch. So if you take your cube and rotate it through half a turn, you should see these split colors. Some may think this should be overlooked by the WCA but is illegal purposely so people will not purposely learn to use their knowledge of the two adjacent sides in order to gain an advantage over other cubers.

I think you should buy a new cube.
Because the cube has no stickers can easily see which color is on back there and on the side.
Therefore, is a V-Cube 2b is also illegal, I think.

yeah, buy another guhong if you like the feel, and maybe do the 48 point edge mod if you want to, its up to you

i dont think so, if it was, then the 7x7 would be illegal too IMO, but the pillowing makes it non optimal for speedcubing though, so I doubt many would use it in comp

It's still going to be illegal if you sticker it or not for reasons Andrew posted. Just get a regular stickered Guhong, problem solved. The quality should be the same.

The v 7 isn't illegal for the simple reason that there isn't an alternative. At least, that's what I read on the wca forums. Currently, the pillowed 7x7 is the only (legal?) cube out there and hence, it HAS to be allowed. This is not the case for the 2x2 considering standard, cubic models are available. I guess things will change with the x cube 7. We might just be looking at the v monopoly being broken.

As for your stickerlers, Scramble it randomly and THEN sticker it. Way to screw with your recognition :D

It's still gonna be illegal though! Or you could sticker it after making a random pretty pattern perhaps?

i bought one even though i knew the rules, simply for collecting, and for training without damaging any stickers ;D

None of the V2 are legal out of the box they cant have the logo in one corner piece, you must remove the logo sticker and replace it with a sticker matching the shade, texture and size of the others or replace the entire logo face in order to be used in official solves.

I don't think this is true. The regulation says:
3l) Cube puzzles must have at most one logo. For Rubik's Cube or bigger cube puzzles the logo must be placed on one of the centre pieces.
For a cube smaller than 3x3x3, you're allowed to have a logo on a corner piece, according to the regulations.

I would get a Stickered Guhong. Problem solved.

I don't understand, though, how my Stickerless is SOOO much better at corner cutting, reverse corner cutting, and speed. I wish My stickered felt like my stickerless and vice versa.

i changed hardware between them, since my stickered got black screws, its got a little better, but the stickerless was still better, may have something to do with the plastic, dont know though...

I don't know if this is just me. But if you have a stickerless GuHong and a regular GuHong, you might notice that they differ in weight significantly. I don't know if they use different plastics, but the stickerless GuHong is significantly lighter which (for me) resulted in layers turning noticeably faster than my regular GuHong (Lubix Ultimate version).
