Edge Piece Popping Out

I've just watched some video reviews and they seem pretty good.
Do you need to lube them or is that not necessary?

My A-V does need lubing from time to time and sometimes pops.

If you want one that is very smooth, silent, doesn't pop and doesn't need lubricant you could try the Ghosthand II. It is also quite cheap.

For the GuHong vs the Ghost Hand II, the Ghost Hand II is a good beginner's cube, but you'll soon realize that it locks up a lot while solving... The GuHong turns VERY poorly, but if you lube it (specifically with lubix), it turns absolutely perfect. The GuHong is good because it has great turning, corner cutting, reverse corner cutting, never locks up, and almost never pops...

This website ships faster than lightake because it is stationed in the US. I would say you can buy from CubeDepotusa.com, but since Lubix lubricant is very expensive, i would suggest buying the GuHong AND the lubix care service with it so you don't have to buy lubix as well.

I was told the GuHong didn't need lube.
Also, could you please expand further when you say it turns poorly?

He is probably saying that although the turning is not that bad without lube, it is nothing compared to how it is with lube.

Silicone based lubes are the best, they wont damage your cube. The ones that come in spray cans might do some harm (the propellant might glue your pieces together) but nothing that a few minutes of cube-turning right after application won't solve.

I haven't tried it, but people with far more cubing knowledge than me love Lubix.

The first lube I ever used was Petroleum jelly.
Fast cube but didn't turn out well in the end...
Does the GuHong come prelubed?

It depends where you get it from.

At certain stores (like icubemart) you can buy a lubrication service.

I personally use Jig-a-loo. It is pretty good.

If you get one from lightake, you will need to lubricate it yourself.

If there is a Walmart near you, you could probably get some lubricant there. I got my jig-a-loo there. It is about 6$.

When you lube a cube, how often do you need to lube it?

Maru Lube: 2 days

Jig-a-loo: 3 weeks - 1 month depending on the cube

CRC: probably same as jig-a-loo but don't know for sure

Shock oil: don't know (maybe every few months?)

Lubix: heard never need to relube but don't have any experience with it.


Bottomline: when you feel the cube is starting to get slower.
