I obtained my DaYan + Mf8 4x4 today. The very first thing I noticed, a messed up color scheme, the red and green were switched. Most of the stickers had air bubbles beneath them as well. All of the stickers I had to remove had lost the sticky backing so I had to tap into the extra stickers.

After I fixed it up in that sense, I started holding it and doing a few turns, I realized how heavy it was, which really turned me off. So I lubed it up and did a quick solve. My major complaint is that the middle layers suck to turn. It seems that the only thing this cube has going for it is that it is very lock-up and pop resistance.

So, what am I missing? Why is this cube so "amazing"?

I got mine on Christmas, and my stickers and color scheme were fine. Where did you order it from? Also, I found that mine sucked until I lubed it twice. You may need to break it in some more too.

just break it in like crazy. I think you mightve gotten a KO or sumthin thought cause they dont usually come with messed up stickers...

Just break it in and throw your maru out the window. literally, this thing is a boss.

My Dayan guhong came with messed up stickers and it is definately not a ko. Anyway just lube your cube and break it in.

Lube the innermost white core with Lubix. Yes, that means disasembly and dodgy reassembly if it's your first time but it's worth it. Also, remove the flash from the core pieces as it will make your inner layers smoother.

That would entail me buying lubix, not really an option at the moment. Thank you though, I'll probably take a look at the inner core.

Of course it's heavy what do you expect from a big cube? Lube it and break it in more. Loosen the tensions. If it's not poppy but locky, then it's prolly really tight.

When my store opened, and I sold a lot of DaYan MF8s the next day at the meetup, I sold them unstickered.
In regards to the middle layers, we found it's nice to hold it like a 2x2 and make it cut 20 degrees~. Hold it halfway then spray crc for a few seconds in the gap. Do a few solves, then do the same technique.
It obviously works as everyone switched to it as their main cubes :p
It comes with 2 sets of stickers from the manufacturer, so either Amazon stickered it poorly and didn't include the other stickers, or they bought from a middleman who just did a rushed job. If you did get the spare stickers, use application tape. It's faster, and extremely neat. I stickered someone's cube for $5, took me maybe an hour? And it is extremely neat :p If you have crc, use that. Also, the pieces come apart like a GuHong, so I think you can change the scheme through that.

Edit: They're definitely not pop resistant, sounds like yours needs to be loosened :p

By heavy, I mean that is is a lot heavier than the YJ V1 and seems a little heavier than the Rubik's, and since those are the only two I've ever used, I would consider it heavy. As I've said before, I'll come back to this later and break it in a bit more/do a better lubing job. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Ive found shock oil works much better than maru lube because its thicker. I would assume spray would be good too, but mine was terrible with only maru

The YJ V1 is an ES KO, which is smaller than a Rubik's, so of course it's lighter than a DaYan.
