Hello, currently I am using the beginners method with 2-look OLL and 2-look PLL. My solving is average of 12: 44.94 seconds and a record of 34.3 seconds.

I was just wondering, as im about to start learning f2l whether there is a full 2-gen f2l methods or just better to use fridrich?

Thanks in advance!
Stephan.

I recommend ZZ, though F2L is 3-gen (R,U,L), there are no cube rotations at all, and often it gets separated into 2-gen L,U and R,U segments anyway.

I looked at the EOline and decided that i fidnt much like it!
I've now decided to carry on fridrich, learn hard f2l cases and the intuitively learn the rest and possibly re-learn hard cases!

Thanks for the help tough!
Stephan.

I suppose im so use to using cross and also id much rather have a brute force/straight forward way of doing it.

Building blocks doesn't really appeal to me and then the way edges have to be aswell just baffles me out of all honest.

The method of L U and R moves is smart and probably really fast but before that won't do me justice.

Fridrich f2l would be "semi" 2 gen wouldn't it? As a lot of the cases use R and U faces, but with there being so many turns of these faces, would algs for different cases confuse you and cause you to use the wrong alg?

That seem a bit confusing :-/

I'm a ZZ user and I was confused by ZZ the first time I saw it too. I proceeded to do Fridrich for a couple of weeks. Later I went back to ZZ and it made more sense. Maybe you can take a look at it in the future?

Differentiating pairing "algs" should never be a problem if you are well practiced. It should be mostly intuitive.

Also, the EOLine is very much worth learning as it reduces the number of OLL cases from 57 to 7.

But it creates a lot of blockbuilding inefficiencies and frustration. I don't think people should learn ZZ just to dodge OLL.

Im good with recognising my OLL and PLL cases you i can do both within 10 seconds atm sometimes sooner. My personal best was a 27 cross and F2L and a 7 LL so mostly its F2L and cross i need to focus on!

Are those last layer time good for a beginner/intermediate cuber?
