That was awesome. I bet that last solve was stressful >.< !!
No, that last solve wasn't stressful for Tim at all. When he was almost finished there was a big audience surrounding him and Tim heard he had gotten everything correct so far. Becasue of the new rules the worst he could have done was 23 out of 24 (22 points). Easily enough for the new WR already.

(I have no idea how he heard that while wearing those HUGE headphones)

Actually the last solve was a bit stressful because i forgot the first two pieces. But anyway, i couldn't hear anyone talking about my success, i just heard that it was silent ;).

What a creative shirt Tim. :)
Maybe a bit offensive ;).

Are you allowed to wear headphones? You can some way record your memorization and then listen to it while solving.

2i) While competing, competitors must not use sound equipment, other electronic equipment (like walkmans, dictaphones or additional lighting).

Here's a quite old but related thread: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/blindfoldsolving-rubiks-cube/message/1114.

But what the regulations say and what is done in practice are two quite different things.

I assume that if the headphones aren't hooked up to any sound, then they don't qualify as sound equipment or electronic equipment. That's what qualifies them as acceptable. Chris Hardwick always wears a pair of completely disconnected headphones (no connection at all) for his blindfold solves. Chris let me try them at Starbucks after Chattahoochee, and they really block out sound nicely! I got a nice 12 minute 4x4x4 BLD solve with them in that very noisy room.

I've used them before, and Tim reynolds has a nice pair now. The best things to use would probably be what Tim uses, which are the earphones that people use for shooting guns. Those will block out sound, and better yet, keep the sound at a consistent level. I've used the headphones that my Dad has for mowing the lawn, and they really keep the sound at a lower level.

Im pretty sure hes not listening to anything, actually quite the opposite, hes trying to focus and not let distractions interfere.

Uhm, actually i can focus better if i listen to music ;).

Who know that you weren't remixing that songs as memo...

Me.

But seriously: That's a good idea. Slipknot for UF, Beethoven for BR, ... ;)
