Need help making wooden cube

I think he meant how the pieces are after they're put together, not making it so you have to make 3 corner pieces per corner and 2 edge pieces per edge. I think that'd be a pretty sweet cube.

The Rubik wooden cube is absolute crap and all the internals are plastic anyway.
I wouldn't bother if I were you but if you're set on it you're probably best off doing the same as Rubik and use a standard cube as a base and replace the bulk of the pieces with wood.

I' really interested in making a complete wooden cube (core included!) I'll follow this thread with interest!! :)

And wouldn't be too hard if you had access to a wood room at school. We have a automatic filing and sanding machine, that would be perfect to make a Guhong. If I was making one, I'd definitely do a Guhong esque design.

hmmm. I wonder if corner stalks would break on a wooden guhong. Meh. To get a decent guhong design on wood you would need very smooth wood... as smooth as plastic, right?

but wouldn't be easier to make a normal cube like the rubik's for first trial? Maybe each corner and edge made by 2 pieces: the external part (the cube as whole) and the inner part which locks the pieces one another.. and than glueing them.. maybe a little weak, but at least you could get one working as a prototype..
