Hey guys, since I read this forum, I gradually improving in my speedsolving.

I really really really thank you especially Pjk or Patrick (the method I used), Pcwiz (The one that always gave me advices) and all of you that gave advices too which names I can't remember. Thank You all!!

I present, my best time is (I already put it in other threads, in case) 1.15.59!!

Hehehe. Wish me luck so I can be faster!!!!

That is the result of the equation, Forum(Advices-->Rubik's) = Solved:D:D!!

Next, my question is,

Pcwiz told me to think and memorize before I execute the solving. I do that and I realize the different when I just do it without second thought and in the top. HOwever, sometimes, I just go blank when the timer starts and most of the times, I can't remember the steps. Is ten way to do that is practice and memorize? No shortcuts (algorithms, etc)? Thanks guys!!

Are you talking about memorizing the doing the cross during your inspection time? You should speak more clearly but I'll give some advice (I hope I got the right topic).

I think Alex Mason has some pretty good cross advice at http://www.freewebs.com/sirshazaam/cross.htm

His account here is Alexander the Great.

For the cross, it's very hard to master it, and it takes a lot of time. I wouldn't worry about it too much at your level, just try to get your cross less than 10 seconds. That should be your goal. When you get like a 30 second average, around there, then you should start worrying about getting it really fast.

You shouldnt need to convert your cross solution into an alg. And the reason your mind goes blank is probably because your doing to many moves, since your a beginner try to do it in ~10 moves.

Memorize then execute? Like algorithms? If you do just that, then you're sucking out the intuition of the puzzle, the entire reason most of us do puzzles. You should watch what certain algorithms do or just play around with the cube to improve your cross, then your F2L eventually. You can always learn more about the cube, unless you have reached the point where you can find optimal solutions. It's impossible, so don't try. Don't blindly learn algorithms.

Oh, and Pcwiz, don't tell beginners to wait until they average 30 to get fast at the cross. Just get it out of the way right when you start. You understand the cube better and you will understand F2L when you get to it.

I meant memorize the moves you're going to do for the cross, then execute them. I'm sure if a person was trying to get fast at the cross, you would tell them to practice it by doing it blindfolded. Well when you're doing the cross blindfolded, you HAVE to memorize, then execute. What other way can you do it.

And I told Harry not to worry about getting fast at the cross. I just told him that in the second post and you're saying it again? Looks like you didn't read what I said...

Hmm, whaddya mean by solve the cross blindfolded? Are you saying I do not need to see the cross forming? That what I do nowadays. Oh, in average, I need about 10-12 turns to solve the cross and in average 15-20 seconds.

Oh and Leviticus, I don't get it, how to turn my cross solving into alg?

Oh yeah, my cube just fell today and it broke, the middle piece to be exact so I use super glue to attach it back is that okay?

Oh, sorry. After seeing you give advice you need more than who's receiving it, I don't read your posts that thoroughly.
I'm surprised that you're apologizing..... you're always mean to me... :(

Oh I gave you the wrong link for the cross advice.. here it is

http://www.freewebs.com/sirshazaam/cross.htm

His page (Alex Mason) explains how to get faster using the cross, and doing it blindfolded is training. Don't worry about getting your cross faster now, as it won't help you too much.

He means do know convert your cross solving into an algorithm. I meant execute your cross like an algorithm. Like you can do it with your eyes closed. Don't worry about that now, because that's when you do the cross faster.

If it's a store bought cube, you can do that.

Hmm, Pcwiz, so after I inspect the edge pieces, I must memorize the position, then, from there, I will do the turn depending on the position which means, I must remember the solving, hence, it will be like algorithms, right?

So, from now, what I must do, practice the Pjk's method? Since I combine them with the booklet's one (solve the F2L).

Oh yeah, my freind bought me a new rubik's cube since she thought I can't fix the broken one. It is very stiff, hard to turns. It came with the plastic box. The title written on the box is "URBANconcepts connection". Can I lubricate it? SInce the mechanisms are all the smae for all cubes?

Ummm yeah but don't worry about that now - just consistently get your cross under 20 seconds.

Yeah just practice the method pjk teaches until you get like a 1:20 average. Then let me know.

I guess you can. I've never heard of that but it'll probably work. I once tried lubricating my friends Sudoku cube, but it wasn't designed to be opened, and it broke:(

Oh yeah, yesterday, my cube was fell off again, it fell when in an scrambled position so, what I do is I open all the pieces and then re-attcah it. Walah we......

Ok2 Thanks for the advices, Sir!!
