I have this 2x2 for a while now, the first thing i did when i got it was lubing it. its been spinning like crazy ever since  now dont get me wrong, i like smooth and all, but sometimes the lock-ups and over-turning just adds to my time. sometimes, i blame the slow solve entirely because of this, coz ive been able to look ahead but couldnt get the turns right.

but from what ive seen in youtube videos, some people have no problems with their ES. do i just have to practice my fingertricks anew with this cube? is it the same case for most people? or do i have to lube less next time?

thanx!

I took mine completely apart, sprayed each piece a generous amount of CRC, and then put it back together wrong 3 times in a row. The process of taking apart, and reassembling really broke it in, it cuts corners, and is very loose (I can do a R10 with one motion) but it's still controllable.

well yeah, but that's my problem. its too loose and smooth, i turn the faces too much. and you know eastsheen, you have to turn it exactly to position so you can make another turn. ive tried solving it slow and it works, but how can start getting faster if i just solve slow? maybe you guys have some special fingertricks? anyone care to explain how they turn faces? :):D

Seriously, take it apart, and then guess how to put it all back together several times, you will most likely put it back so you have an unsolvable state. Then repeat, but get it right. The process of forcing the plastic broke mine in very well. I like it alot now. Mine actually can cut corners a reasonable amount. I wish I could say that about my 4x4 ES

EDIT: I just hold the faces between fingers so it stays together. It's hard to explain. I have way more trouble keeping my 3x3 from accidentally turning than my ESs.

Tell me how you make your 3x3 so loose!

Yea i really like my cubefans diy that i have better then my Puzzleproz. I had cubefans do it for me and he did a superb job, didn't even have to adjust tension, just had to break it in. Now my PuzzleProz is just gathering dust. :) I recommend spending the extra buck getting him to assemble it :P
