Yesterday i was checking the official averages and i notice that some details are
wrong for example the world record average if you calculate the average the result is not the same, now im confused, maybe i dont know how to calculate the average or my calculator is not working well:confused:

Did you subtract the fastest and slowest times from the average? The WCA uses the 'Real Average' formula which means they take your middle three solves and use those to determine your average.
Real? Would you expect it to be imaginary?
(And how is it more "real" than any other scheme?)
Also, fastest and slowest times are not subtracted, just dropped. ;)

Anyhow, I just cite the Olympics for this...

ohhh thats why. i was thinking that they uses all the times.
If you're not sure, always check (9f8).

Hence the apostrophe marks... I believe that is what everyone calls the formula anyway. They say it is your 'real' average formula because it does not take into account your fastest and slowest times. If you take a look at the UWR board you will see that a few people use the abbreviation 'RA' for "Real Average."

Also, I mean to say drop but I could not find the right word at the time, lol. Brain freeze.

Damn, I'm an idiot.

EDIT: lol, so that I don't look like a total idiot. I was actually told when I started cubing that that was what RA stood for. And someone was always using those words so I guess I've been brought up in cubing wrong, heh.
