Have you ever thought about where you rank in cubing? This is more directed to the less advanced cubers such as myself, like, I average about 28 seconds on a 3x3, 1:50 on a 4x4 and 3:30 on a 5x5. How many people do you think can do that? In the US or the world....

well im the same as you apart from the 3x3 which i average sub 20 and i need to improve on 4x4 and 5x5 oh and also the megaminx, i can get sub 3 on that now :)

Back on topic i think i thought where i ranked in teh world but that was in comparison with the WCA ranks.

Mmm around 250 persons, maybe in a couple of months it will be around 200:rolleyes:; but from my country i think im the best or the second best, im dominican and my average is around 21 seconds.

Here's the fastest sub-20 cuber in competition:

312 Yumao Feng 19.95

Notice the ranking on the left.

My best official average (25.38 seconds) is worlds 610th best and taking only Europe I'm the 180th and in scandinavia+ Finland+Denmark+Island there are only 31 better than me so I'm the 32nd and in Finland there are only 5 better than me.

According to WCA, on average I am ranked 1070

But for the magic I'm 146 on single solve

I want to get top 100 on magic (I know I can.)

And in future competitions, if I were to hit my PB ont he pyraminx, it would put my top 20 (My best is just under 8 seconds)

I'm pretty certain that I would have the national records here for 3x3x3 speedsolve+average, OH, feet, 4x4x4 and 5x5x5. Not sure about 2x2x2, I know Malcolm annihilates me on BLD. I assume he would have multiBLD as well (I've never done it, but I'm sure I could).
My fastest single solve on the 3x3x3 would put me 68th and my average would put me 245th, although that's an average of 12. I'm fairly certain my best average of 5 would be around 16 seconds which would put me around 100th. My feet times would both be in the top 10 (lol). Of course, these estimates would NOT be reflective of a real competition... (except for feet average :p )

with 28 secs average my rough estimate is that you are better than 99.99983% of other people who ever played with the cube (3x3).

that is approximately 2 people out of 1 million can solve the cube in 28 seconds.

even if I was completely wrong, I'm still very confident that you would be at least in top 0.01%

officially, I'm 275th in the world with a 3x3x3 average of 19.38. but that was quite some time ago

I will probably average somewhere between 16-17 in a few weeks, so I'll be around 150-200.

Don't forget that most cubers has not compeated. Many are like "I can barley du sub 30, no way I will winn so I don't go to competitions" (ppl like that does not understand it is for the fun of it) or there are no competitions where they live (Dene, you are at least on the right planet =)

It's wery hard to estimate any figure for how many decently fast cubers who has not compeated but I guess it is as many as 2 of 3.

Therefore it is wery hard, not to say impossible, to compare your times to "the cubers of the world", you do not now how many they are and certenally not their times. If you have not compeated it is not really fair to compare your records to the WCA rankings, most people do much worse in competition than at home, normal is some 30% extra time. But a rather small number of people do even better in competition than at home, if you have not been to competition you can not say if you are in the normal group or one of the lucky few. The only fair comparsion you can do is WCA rank to WCA rank I'm afraid.

If you like to know my rank, then just klick the WCA link below :)

I agree with you, Kenneth - I think that many cubers underestimate the number of cubers who haven't competed.

By the way, with speedcubing, I'm one of the lucky few. Kenneth, I just passed you last week on the 3x3x3 for averages (you still have the better single). But I'm sure you're probably actually faster than me; I just keep doing well at competitions.

I still can't believe my 5x5x5 competition times. (And even my 4x4x4 times, for that matter.) I'm hoping that someday I'll be that good at home.

Darn you Mike, it was just a few months since I passed you :p

My best single I actually had twice!!

I just checked your ranks, you are really close to me in many events. For BLD you will stay ahead of me for a long time even if I start to practice it, for Magic and Master... you have not got a chance :P

There's also Pyraminx - that one looks pretty hopeless for me too. (I've not done it in competition yet, but I'm generally around 25 average.) But I'm going to try to improve on the Magics. (I really don't see a point in trying to improve on Pyraminx until I can get a good puzzle to solve on; I have 2 of them and both are total junk.)

But yeah, my 2x2x2 weekly competition times run about the same as yours, and our OH averages are very similar too. I seem to have you a bit on the 5x5x5, but we're not that far apart on the 4x4x4. We're really very close to each other on 3x3x3 though.

You're lucky that you get to go to so many competitions.

I'm working on it! After reaching the Milky Way 100 years a go, my travels brought me to this beautiful planet, home of the Rubik's cube! It's a shame I decided (against my will) to settle in such an isolated country :p . It shouldn't be long until I'm out of here!

Well, i'm still a n00b cuber. I only broke 1 minute a few days ago, so i'm insignificant to the rest of you guys. What's pretty funny though, is that in my country (South Africa) i have NEVER seen someone else solve a Rubik's Cube. In fact, i didn't even know speed cubing existed until 2 months ago. SO i can safely say that within about a month or so i will almost certainly be the best cuber in my country :P (and no matter HOW good i am here, i'll still be insignificant when compared to you guys :P )

Search Emile Compion on the WCA site. Well, you can probably still say you are the best person still living in your country ;)

Mike, I only compeated once in 5x5x5 and in my first turn I poped a bunch of pieces, (it was a half pop where I manage to press them back in before the explosion). My East Sheen was wery loose when I did this and after that first pop I was totaly afraid it would pop again so I did really bad. My normal times for 5x5x5 is around 4:30 and my best ones are just under 4 so I'm pretty near your times.

Ha!! A south African! What a surprise! Thanks guys :D

Well, it's now my goal to steal those records from him eventually. 15.96 on a 3x3x3 doesn't seem that impossible to achieve. I'll get there eventually :P
