Do personal bests count when randomly scrambled?

I just set a new personal best of 21.82, but it was just randomly scrambled by me. I'm not sure whether I can count this as a personal best or whether it just doesn't count because it was not scrambled properly.

Thanks.

That depends if you got something like a triple xcross, then i think it wouldnt be your personal best. But that's something that's up to you

I would probably count this. Almost all my solves are just randomly scrambled by me, and if you do a lot of solves, you will get lucky sometimes. If you did something like a 5 move scramble which you solved in 5 moves, then you shouldn't count that, but if you did a long enough scramble for this, then it's okay. So, yes, I think you can count it. :)

Yeah. Some people here have solves with LL skips that they count as their personal best singles. Some only count nonlucky solves.
You can have your PB be whatever you want. It's personal preference.

What I consider to be a countable PB is a solve that...

...wasn't practised.
...wasn't poorly scrambled (make it legit, man).
...wasn't prematurely planned out (inspection is fine, but don't overinspect).
...wasn't extremely lucky (as an F3L skip or something, idc).
etc.

If you think it was legit, it probably was.

lol i don't even care, I scramble all cubes myself
I hate it when people are like OMG you needz to follow the scrambles!

i have timed myself
there is no major statistical difference between computer genned 25 move scrambles
and me messing with the thing for 20 seconds, timewise.

Yeah. It's hard to NOT scramble the cube decently, even if you're doing it always by hand. Even if you repeat certain move sequences a lot, even one move different in the middle of a scramble makes a big difference.

My problem is that if I don't pay attention I'll give myself one of about 3 scrambles that my hands seem to enjoy giving me.

I've been cubing for over 10 years and I couldn't even tell you what my personal best is, I don't write down my times or log them. But I would say if you randomly scrambled it your self, that should be just as good as a computer generated scramble.

The only purpose for computer generated scrambles for me is to give you the least number of moves for a scrambled cube, and to make it seem more official.

It doesn't take very long to do 25 moves, so sometimes it's just a time saver for me.

This has been bothering me...
I understand what you mean when you say 'randomly scrambled.' But the computer generated scrambles are much more random than hand scrambles would be.

Why wouldn't they be?

But the computer generated scrambles are much more random than hand scrambles would be.

That reminds me of people scrambling the cube for a long time thinking they're making it "harder" for me to solve it when they're not.

There's no reason for them to not be- humans are horrible at being random. The OP just used 'random scrambling' to mean 'hand scrambling.' Which I don't think is really an accurate representation.
