Yeah, So I've been cubing quite alot these last couple of days and have gotten my time down to about 1:45 on avg (using badmephisto's beginner method) and I was wondering: When should I try learning F2L? Like, how low time should my avg time with the beginner method be before I tackle F2l?

Another thing, is vaseline okay? I've heard alot of different things and just want to get this clear, is it okay to use it? Will it degread it in time? Is it okay in the short run (I'm using a store bought cube right now I'm planning to replace with a dyi cube fairly soon so if it's a gooner in a few months I really don't mind as long as it enhances the cubes performance in the next 2-3 weeks.

Thanks

You can start learning anytime you'd like (badmephisto's F2L video is a very good one) but it's possible to average below 50 seconds with that beginner's method. So there's no hurry.

Vaseline really won't do you much good. It's not going to eat your cubes like some people say but you're better off without it.
People here freak out about their lube but it really doesn't matter too much, ESPECIALLY at your times. Just don't worry about it :)

You can start learning it whenever you feel comfortable with the cube.
wiki about vaseline

Personally, I started learning fridrich when I was averaging around 55 seconds.

If you're solving using a layer by layer method, you're kind of already learning Fridrich. It's all up to you as to how quickly you want to progress, or if you want to branch out and learn a different speedsolving method altogether.

The thing about vaseline, is that it's petroleum-based, and doesn't work
too well with plastic, and it has been rumored to wear your plastic in very
small amounts. Also, it is a ***** to clean out.

Also, I learned keyhole and 2 Look OLL/PLL when I broke a minute. If your cube is fast enough, flick the cube with your fingers and get used to that instead of grabbing the layers, unless you already don't do that.

If you're using a Rubik's 3x3x3, clean out the vaseline if you put any in,
and use Jig-a-Loo. It works well, and will melt microscopic layers of
plastic, which is safe to use, and will actually make your cube better!

I always regret never learning roux.
whats stopping you?

The fact that I know almost all CFOP and am sub 20. I don't wanna go back to like... 35 ewww.

Learning another method won't make you lose your skill/times with CFOP. If anything it'll probably help you occasionally with blockbuilding/CxLL
This. My blockbuilding improved a bunch when I used Roux a lot. I averaged 17-18 at the time on 3x3 and Roux helped me bring that down to 16-17 without even practicing with CFOP. Plus, it's easy to get your times on Roux down to around 25 if you average sub 20 on 3x3. Plus, you pick up a bunch of new techniques. Roux's fun anyway.

Thanks. I knew BigGreen had a sub-10 single but didn't see if he had a sub-10 average. So there you go. Not funny. Just as fast as CFOP.
