ive recently gotten pretty good with the standard beginners layer by layer method (43 secs) and want to learn the fridrich. can somebody tell me a decent tutorial. im not good with notation, but i can read it.

Fridrich Tutorial

There really isn't a tutorial on Fridrich because there are about 120 algorithms. People just list the cases of the algorithms. If you want a tutorial on intuitive F2L (logically solve first two layers), the best tutorial out there is badmephisto's on youtube and speedsolving.com

Part 2:http://youtube.com/watch?v=4GxLM_dZqg4&feature=PlayList&p=0B7E0E5922B76D76&index=6

Steps of Fridrich Method
Cross
F2L - First Two Layers - 42 Algorithms
OLL - Orienting the Last Layer - 57 algorithms
PLL - Permuting the Last Layer - 21 Algorithms

If you want to learn real Fridrich, go to the links on my website and go to the Popular guides section. My website link is below my signature.

There isnt really an easy method, its just inuitve. i tried learning all the alogs for f2l and i just could not learn all of them so i use inuitive now (lot easier)

The problem with intuitive F2L is that you have to do A LOT of thinking and it requires more moves. F2L (algorithms) has the fastest way doen for you, while for intuitive, you have to think about the fastest way WHILE you're solving.

You should start with intuitive F2L, then once you get used to it, then mvoe on to F2L (algorithms)

I learned F2L from Tomas' link that was posted above ad can say it helped me learn f2l very well. After that I have watched/read most every f2l guide there is. You can and might just pick up a new trick you just haven't seen before.
There is certainly no problem learning intuitive F2L and just sticking with it always, thats what I do. Relative to Petrus there is very little thinking and I'm pretty sure except for a few strange cases intuitive has less moves unless you know like 21847694 algs that take into account empty-slots and pieces in the wrong slot and such.

Once you have the cases down to fluent sight recognition, intuitive requires no more thought than algorithms do. They also stick with you better, seeing as you created the algorithms yourself.

Intuitive F2L has excellent fingertricks. 90% of my movements on F2L are triggers. It takes .5 seconds to figure out what to do and .25 seconds to make it into nice smooth fingertricks.

Muscle memory also plays a HUGE role in intuitive. Intuitive, over time, is like learning algorithms without fiddling around with notation or tedious memorization. It just relies on repetition.

Badmephisto is god.....

you should check out his other videos too if you want some more advanced learning

lol i just stumbled by this thread now, i never thought i would have like my own little fan club or something, haha! anyway, awesome, I hope it helped! :)

oh and by the way, 43 seconds with a beginner's method is pretty impressive actually. F2L will most likely increase your times at first, but then it will turn around and take a sharp dip, so just keep practicing.

With Algs you have to do a LOT of thinking to solve from all angles.

Wow, 603 day bump. Congrats.
