Awareness test

[Hadley4000]

Cubers need to be able to keep track of things moving fastly, and be aware of things around them. This is a simple awareness test video.

I saw the thing but i didnt count.

lol

[adzicents]

I saw both the gorilla and counted the right amount of passes the first time I saw this.

[Pedro]

what is supposed to happen?

I clicked play and waited, but nothing appears...the time doesn't run...

[pjk]

I had the same problem as Pedro.

I assume this is the same thing:

I totally missed it the first time.

Yeah, that's it.

I couldn't stop laughing when I first saw it.

I already knew what was going to happen, they stole it from some very famous psychology experiments.

[Rosetti]

Yeah I saw this on brainiac a while ago, although I think their version was a little more astonishing

They showed a group of people, and you were supposed to follow a lunchbox they were passing - in the background a guy in a really big bee suit came on and did a chicken type arm wave, and walked off - I was totally oblivious to it.

They did that throughout the episode, one scene featured a guy in a rollercoaster, but the colour of his particular carriage kept changing colour.
In the last scene, the guys shirt changed like 3 times (camera editing) but I didn't see that either!
It's astonishing how the mind works, and isolates certain things to such an extent.

[Dene]

The original experiments were done with a guy in a gorilla suit, and he stayed in the view of the camera for much longer than in that video (although, I guess for the pupropses of the advert they had to limit the time). They also did ones where one whole team of people changed etc etc.

[Stefan]

they stole it

That's an unjust statement. It's not like they're comedians stealing from another comedian, or scientists stealing from another scientist without reference. They do this for a legitimate and good cause, which becomes clear if you watch the end of the video.

[Dene]

I, of course, did watch the whole video. But you seem to have taken my comment a bit out of context. It was meant as more of a "they took it" or whatever, but that's just the way I talk, I guess it's hard to understand if you don't know me personally ^^ .
