[NAR] Pyraminx 4.90 average - Felix Lee

Not sure. I could say Oka (the youtube version), but I might be using what Odder calls the Odder method. I'm not sure, since he never really describes what he does in detail anywhere. I dunno, it's just kind of something I found on my own.

Would you be willing to share any details? I also am wanting to improve at Pyraminx. I am currently using a dumb method I found by myself, it is completely intuitive (solve corners, then edges - or whatever they are called?).

We both broke the post count anomaly I mentioned :o

Eh, well I took a couple pages of notes of different things, and I'm not sure how to explain it really. What happens is I start with Oka, but then I orient the centers and edges and hopefully at the same time place the third edge. If the third edge isn't placed, it will be in a spot that is easy to place. I see all of this during inspection, and the only thing I need to look for after that is the last three cycle of edges. A lot of the times I solve really inefficiently just so I can predict everything up to that last step.

BUMP =D (yeah I like it =D )

it sounds pretty much as what I'm doing, but I'm looking for 2 substeps
1) solve 2edges in way so inserting the last one fixes centers
2) fix 1 edge in way so inserting 2 edges at a time fixes centers (this is cool!)

I also see everything but last 3-cycle in inspection =D

Yeah, I was re-reading your list of methods and I realized that your second point was one thing that I didn't do. There are so many different things you need to know for that though. However, it does seem that it can turn many of the bad scrambles into good solves.

Solving almost everything during inspection is pretty great :rolleyes:

It's not that bad to learn, if you can track pieces 3 moves ahead and learn how to solve 2 edges stuck on the top at a time, while flipping some centers... then you are good going. It's very easy to learn.

Next step for me is to solve it 1-look (it's hard to track the 3-cycle >.<)

Yeah I'm going to think about looking into it.

I've tried the 1-look by doing speedBLD before. I can only do it a few times out of many scrambles though. I certainly can't do it with only 15 seconds of inspection though.

speedBLD has never succeeded for me =D
