I started cubing about 3 days ago, because all I wanted to do was solve a Rubik's cube. I use the beginner method, and right now average about 3 minutes with a best of 2:30..However, I am color blind and this accounts for the slow times that I have..I hope to learn some new algs in the future to speed up my times. Any tips would be appreciated on which new algs to start with. Thanks!

Um, ur next step is learning f2l, which all speedcubers know..however i use the advanced method and average 55 seconds...so its up to u

Just practice until you get to a minute.

About the colour blind case... You can get stickers that suit you

You have a few options:

1. [wiki]Fridrich/CFOP[/wiki] - most popular, very similar to beginner's/LBL method
2. [wiki]Roux[/wiki] - much more intuition, uses lots of M slice moves
3. [wiki]ZZ[/wiki] - possibly hardest to master, but can be fast
4. [wiki]Petrus[/wiki] - also blockbuilding, good for FMC

Or just continue practicing your method. I got to low 40's before I switched, and people have gotten sub-20 averages with beginner's methods. If you want to continue with it, I suggest learning [wiki]2-Look OLL[/wiki] and [wiki]2-Look PLL[/wiki].
