[WR] Rowe Hessler 2.45 2x2 Average

Congrats! Man I dont really pay much attention to who is breaking records and such but this video was just intense. And I saw a video of you a couple weeks ago (the one where you DNF'd pretty badly). I gotta say, I got some respect for you, they were scrambling in front of you in the other video and you pushed yourself to look away.

And on another note, just did this one, I average 10.63 seconds.

Who's that handsome devil in the background?
Bob Burton.

Wow, he IS handsome!

Who, this guy?

With easy scrambles there are other people that could break this. I'm not saying Rowe didn't put hard work into this and only got lucky but someone (who averaged like sub-4) could get real easy scrambles and get sub-2.45.

Yes, but at the moment, it is ALMOST out of reach. It is still get-able, but very difficult, compared to 3.15, which was very reachable. People struggled to get better than 3.15, so 0.70 is a huge leap. I don't think it will broken for quite some time, unless someone comes out of nowhere, or Rowe manages to beat it.

Out of nowhere? I would say there are people who wouldn't have to come out of "nowhere" to beat it. Justin could beat it with easy scrambles and there are others. There are 18 sub-4 2x2 solvers who have done it officially as of now according to WCA and anyone of them could do it with easy enough scrambles and so could some others.

3-4 isn't 2.45
I said it is ALMOST unreachable for now. Almost. I still think, if anyone is going to beat it in the next 3 months, it will be Rowe. This isn't a definite thing.

When will the single record be broken? It's getting pretty old (399 days) :)
All that is needed is one very easy scramble in a big competition.
there was a scramble with a 3-moves-solution at worlds ...
but not for the top group :P

Although, it was supposed to be for Rowe's group. Rowe's group = top group by default. :p

It might be reasonable for people like Rowe to do averages of 10/12 in a competition, but having everyone do one would take quite a while.

Well, if we have a format that gives average of five for the first round and then for the finals seven more solves to make a 10(12) for the best ones then?

Old and new styles, the 5x5 is a mixture of Mo3 and 3(5) averages and that works so why not for 2x2?

Err, when was the last time any competition used Mo3 for 5x5?

Not since the format was changed to 3(5) but that's unimportant, it's still a fact.
