Gah my fingers suck... is there any vids out there that give advice as to what fingers to use to move certain layers... or possible some LL finger tricks or something...

like when working on my 2 look PLL and i get to the three edge counter clockwise rotation (dont know if that move has a name) i use
[RU'][RU][RU][RU']R'U'R2
i fumble with it everytime and i feel like there is a better way then what im doing...

=====

on a side note, also workin on my F2L and building on looking ahead... i found that it worked better for me useing this kind of inbreed keyhole method i came up with where after the cross i go right to the second layer edge pieces solving all but one and then using that last opening to drop in my corner pieces... just wondering if anyone sees anything wrong with that as far as possible developing a bad habit im not seeing or something like that...

That is called a U perm. Try looking up that name on YouTube. There must be tons of vids around. People can do it in less than 1 second.

For turning, it's one of those things that will come best from practice. Your fingers will eventually figure out the easiest, smoothest ways to turn the cube. Tips would be to turn smoothly, using your fingertips, and only use the amount of force needed to turn the layer for the speed you're going.

badmephisto has some good vids on both fingertricks and F2L, and while you're there, I suggest watching some of his other videos. He's very helpful.

U perm is so fast, if you fumble with this alg, try different alg. some people have good sucess with M move for U perm M2 U' M' U2 M U' M2. i can do U perm you use avg12 .91sec. at first most alg around 5-7 sec and i do slow on purpose to learn alg, because sometime i will make wrong turn and will undo move and dont know where to go from my mistake, so i learn slow so if i have backtrack i can see what move i need to do to finish. example is T perm, where i miss the R2 in the middle sometime i go so fast i only hit R and i have to backtrack. many time i have to fix cross and F2l etc after this mistake but when i learn them slow, i know how to fix these fast instead of having to go back and resolve bottom layers. also, on badmeph...(sp.) website he have link in youtube description, he have a PLL list of the PLL he use... these PLL are good for beginning until you learn alg that are better for your style. he have a program you download where you do PLL as fast as you can. i reccomend this program. it help me a lot when i first start learn PLL to make it more fast. it even help me now when i want to find out which alg is slowest if i want to try to find better alg. my Z perm was very slow than my other PLL and this program help me to focus on which PLL to find better alg to get most benefit on cutting time. good luck!

Using your thumb for F is pretty slow in most situations. I suggest trying to find a way around it (like for F (R U R' U') F' use your pointer finger for F). Just realize that cubing is like jazz: you have to first learn the rules, and then know how to break them.

same here... thumb for F' and index for F... i tried my left hand index and even right hand pinky from under... just feels strange

Haha, I was commenting about you. ;)

But I do this as well most of the time.
