Haiyan assembly help needed

This happened to me with the one I bought at Caltech. I just put it in this order: Screw + small washer + spring and then just screw it into the core. That's what I used and it;s an amazing cube.

My Haiyan is perfect, but you might have to mod it a bit before it gets better

I just got my Haiyan cube today and I have a problem.
One of the screws will not go it fully.
When I look at the core, and when I push a pin into the holes in the core, one arm of the core has a shallow hole. No matter how hard to try to put the screw in, it will not tighten all the way. I really don't feel like getting my dremel out and making the hold deeper so the screw will go in.

Did anyone else get a defective core like this?

Did you even read my post right above you?

To add a little info; I had limited tools, so i jammed a pushpin in the hole and scratched out about a mm of space. I then used all my strength to get the screw in all the way, I'm surprised I didn't strip it. Haiyan needs to work on quality control or it'll ruin his good name. I still don't feel great about my core, considering returning it or giving to one of my amateur friends.

I did strip the thread in mine :(

Yes, I did read the post. But no matter how much spinach I eat, it will not help if the hole simply is not deep enough and the screw just spins without going in any further, stripping the thread.

I pushed a pin into the holes in the plastic core to measure the depth and one hole is definitely a few mm shallower than the others. No matter how much I force it, I regular screw will not drill into solid plastic.

I really don't want to have to order another Haiyan cube because of a defective core.... :(
