Will a better cube give you FASTER solvetimes?

You're not even sub-30, this isn't "scientific" at all, 10 solves on each cube mean nothing, your times are so spread out you could solve 2 cubes with your "best" times in the time you solve one of your worst times, etc...

Also, a faster cube will obviously give you faster times, as long as you turn fast enough for it to make a difference.

i think this thread makes little sense, use the cube you ge the best times with, if you can lookahead well this might be a fast cube, or if you can't it might be a slower cube, or the other way around, my lookahead isn't so good, buy i use a very fast cube because i don't mind turning very slowly and accurately in F2L and i get to just let loose on OLL/PLL

I just switched a few weeks ago from edison to F2.
My average improved by about 15%. I was amazed.
Cubes make a difference.

Period.

I've seen countless of videos on YouTube where people get out of their way to make their cube "better". I've seen people saying that the first thing you should do when speedcubing is spending $30 on cube+shipping on a good "speedcube".

Countless of videos on how to "improve" store-bought cubes to "DIY quality" by doing all kinds of things exist on YouTube.

Here is my video response to all those people who claim that a better cube gives you faster solvetimes:

Please rate and comment my video. I am interested to hear your opinion on the matter.

****. you. C4Y is the greatest cube ever. you probably don't even know how to tension it.
and what is a "ying yong" cube you say is high quality?? does he mean YJ?

i'm not gonna watch it anymore. c4y is not shitty. and please increase your vocabulary, you sound like a noob

The only possible conclusion: you don't know anything about statistics.

Anyway, fast times is not just about turning but also about lookahead. A fast cube will not necessarily give you better times (initially) because you may be turning too fast to be able to lookahead, which will slow you down. However, if you get used to it to the point where you can turn faster with the same lookahead as you had on the worse cube, your time will definitely be faster on the better cube.

Of course it will. But only if you're at the point where your turn speed actually makes a difference. A good cube will not improve your recognition or lookahead, both of which are more important than turn speed at your level.

P.S. if you want your experiment to mean anything, you would do better to do averages of at least 100 on each cube. Get cracking.

Utterly terrible use of the scientific method to test your hypothesis.

"I already knew the answer before I tested it." Your data is already flawed in that you cannot prove or disprove any notion that you intentionally altered the solves (as you were solving) to reach the conclusion you did--even though the conclusion you reached to support your hypothesis doesn't accurately demonstrate anything other than the fact that you are very inconsistent in your solves.
