I'm going to the Stanford competition and I have a couple questions. First, are there places where cubes and stuff are sold? I have a storebought cube and I wanted to get a DIY sometime, and I dont want to order one online. Second, how do the events and stuff work? Are all the events at the same time? Third, I've never gone to a competition, what's the registration like? I'm a minor, so do I need to have anything special?

DIY are only sold online, but maybe someone else can buy a couple and you can buy one from him?

Events are held consecutively. That means you can participate in every event. The only exceptions (sometimes) are fewest moves, multi-blind and/or bigcubes blind which are sometimes held during lunch or other events.

Registration is just an informal procedure. Sometimes you have to pay a small fee, you give your name and you tell which events you want to compete in. No supervisor or > 18 person is needed.

If you are lucky, Adam Zamora should be at Stanford selling some DIY cubes. He was at Berkeley and I bought a cube from him. Otherwise, your best bet would be online. Secondly, events are in order however the organizers put it. Usually Rubik's Cube first then 4x4 and etc. Thirdly, like Arnaud said, registration is very informal. They just ask for your name, whether you pre-registered or not, and accept your payment. No need for passports or anything.

PS. I too will be at Stanford. See you there!

How much does he sell them for? Does he sell them new and unassembled? Does he also sell stickers? Does anyone?

He sold mine to me for 10 dollars including two sets of stickers. They are completely new, unassembled. Hopefully, cubesmith will be there so you can get stickers from him.

Hello im a total beginner in competitons also so i decided to ask a couple of questions in thread also.So im participating in the Competition in Helsinki and i was wondering that do the judges tell me what to do before the solve since i have no clue how to place my fingers on the timer so that i dont get a DNF,

2b) Competitors younger than 18 must first ask their parent(s)/guardian(s) for permission.
2e) Competitors must be able to show a passport/id-card during registration at the location to prove their identity.

Don't worry, the timers are easy to use and you can practise it before your official attempts.

I'm quite sure that both the pyraminx and white cube are legal. And the judges will definitely tell you what to do.
Btw you can ask Teemu if he has some cubes to sell just e-mail him before the competition so he knows to bring you one.

Tyson and Leyan were the delegates. Lars Petrus was there too, you should look at the results, I got 37th place!

whats ur avg? ur a lucky duck. i wanna meet them!!

IMHO (Tyson, if you read this, please don't kill me >.<), this competition's atmosphere felt more like a cube meeting rather than a competition. Otherwise, very organized (as usual of course). And yes, Petrus was there, Leyan, Tyson, Shelly, Adam, Lucas, Justin, etc. were all there. Too bad Frank wasn't there (but Clancy with his OC cubes was there 8D).
