I have to scramble my cube every time then?

I might sound like an idiot but now that I've found several instructions on F2L
it seems to me I would have to either

a)look at what 'case' im dealing within the series of many algorithms
or
b)reproduce the 'case' until I have the algorithm learned.

Am I wrong?

It seems like a drag to have to scramble the cube over and over.
How exactly did you guys do it?

[Or do I use pc software that will scramble the cube, maybe?]

why don't you just do the algorithm without setting up the case you are trying to learn. to get it into muscle memory and then use it when you come across it in spedsolves to practice applying the alg and your recognition of the case this is how i learn. also when i have learnt the alg i do it with my eyes closed, behind my back, between my legs etc so that you can apply it from muscle memory to improve your alg speed. Try it, i know it sounds stupid but i learnt most of my algs this way. The only downside is recognition may be slightly slower for the first say ten times you come across each case after you have learnt it, but then you'll be fine. This method allows you to learn more algs in a shorter space of time though which i think outweighs slow recognition for a few solves by miles, if you dont understand what i mean, just ask.

EDIT: in short what he said ^^^^^^^

Use virtual cube, its much easier. You can use it as long as you have installed Java.

Why learning the algo's for F2L?
Just use intuition, there are already more than enough algo's to learn for the last layers...

I hink learning algos for F2L would only help if there are some specific cases that you do not fast enough intuitively.
And even then; try to see and understand what the algo does so it "becomes intuition" which enables you to perform it from allcorners without having to rotate the cube or learn mirrors.

Scrambling for F2L shouldn't take long; you don't have to solve the whole cube you know...
