I drop my cubes REGULARLY... and just 10 minutes ago, i dropped my cube, sending caps flying in all directions. Does it affect the cube if nothing broke?

cubes that have edge or corner caps on the outside like the FII literally explode when dropped, thts why i take my type C with me if i cube out of my house.
On topic, if you drop your cube and your core cracks then your cube will either fall apart or one side will get really loose. however this doesnt happen very often, if ever.

Doesn't seem to do much to a store bought....but if the core breaks, try applying a harsh cleaning chemical that softens the plastic temporarily to rebond it instead of super glue. I find that this actually works for better for this type of plastic.

could you name a few (preferrably household) items?

sorry about that chapuunka :( i know how its like to lose a cube. in fact, i lost two. i dropped one, and the other one got run over by a car. it was my first DIY (c4y) :(

A couple of weeks ago, I kept locking up on what could have been an amazing solve and, as a result, got a really bad time. When I finished, I dropped the cube onto my desk, hit the spacebar (to stop the timer) and then batted my cube across the desk in disgust.

In retaliation, the cube then dived onto the floor and exploded, flinging centre caps far and wide, to all corners of the room.

The search wasn't called off for days, but the orange centre was never seen again. Presumed dead.

From that day, I took a solemn oath, never again to raise my hand in anger to my favourite speed cube.

.

I must have dropped my storeboughts a zillion times and they are perfectly okay. My 4x4x4 broke the second time I dropped it. I guess the bigger your cube is, the bigger the chance of breaking it (V-Cube 7 being the exception)

I had my QJ megaminx core snap when my friend dropped it. But it was from ebay and the core was broken when I got it in the mail, it broke like 2 or 3 times... anyway don't use that megaminx anymore lol.

Isn't it amazing how impossible it is for me to get the centers off of my "new" a III, but when I drop it, one always comes off? I only ever drop my cubes when I OH at school. I know, stupid idea. And luckily the floor of my family room is cube-friendly carpet.
R.I.P Jiggy's orange center. Life was always a blast when you were around, and you always looked on the brighter spectrum of color.

Well what it can do on a DIY is sort of destroy the caps when you drop them. But if its a rubiks brand, then dont worry

One of the ''arms'' of the QJ megaminx broke too when I dropped it. Crazy-glue did the trick easily

Goof Off, or Oops are really strong powerful cleaners that are meant to remove stains or gunk, I tested some on cubies from a broken 4x4, and it pretty much melted it, and I stuck some together and I still can't pry them apart. Just experiment with strong cleaners or solvents, and you'll probably find one that does the same thing.

I used to have a storebought. Friends kept throwing it around. Dropped a billion times. Nada.
Got a Type A I (Old?) and decided to dump the storebought. Peeled off the stickers, gave it to my friend, and he threw it in the air, caught it, threw it, caught it, threw it, BAM.
