So I purchased a couple Rubik's brand DIY kits. I've been using them with some success and they seem pretty nice. However, I'm seeing a lot of talk about assembly including some flat washers. Neither of my kits came with washers. Are they supposed to?

Also, do most people sand down the plastic seams on these pieces? In some pieces, the seam is on a face side, and is causing stickers to peel! I think I am gonna go through them with some sandpaper.

the newer ones have springs with a large end that acts like a washer. make sure you put the large side facing down towards the core.

as for the plastic seams, don't use sandpapers. it will scratch the plastic, and it's not very efficient either. I'd recommend using an exacto knife to scrape them; it's much easier to control and smoother than most sandpapers.
