Very weird 5x5 situation.

I was solving my my meffert's 5x5 and hit PLL at 1:36. As soon as I started the
J, a wing
popped. I kept solving and got a 1:47, one of my best times. The cube ended in
this
position, and I wanted to let you guys know of it. I'm not sure if it's a DNF,
but it's still a
crazy pop..

How did that piece end up where the wing goes??? I get so scared every time my 5x5 pops, I just pray that nothing broke.

speaking of 5x5's...... when you do the "big cubes" method....do you ever make the working ring (M or E) symetrical so you can do double turns to avoid matchflips?? i just started working this into my solve...its awesome

okay..in the 3 days I have had my 5x5 I have had this happen twice -- or rather it tilted up half in and half out. Both times I took the whole thing apart and rebuilt it which is a major pain. Is there another way to fix them aside from this method? My times are crazy slow because I am so scared of this happening all the time.

Yeah, I looked into the rules. It's a DNF per article 10d. It's still an interesting case.

MiloD, yeah I do that all the time. Too bad it only works on odd cubes.

If you put the cube together before you stop the time it is not a DNF.

U' , move center, U, insert edge.
Or:
U', insert wing (moving center), U

That's a conjugation there.

Oww, that happened to me a few times.
It's weird, but it happens only on the Mefferts 5x5x5 as far as I know.
